As to the nuimber of "commits" from the NAHL. . . they claim a commit for every kid that ever wore an NA jersey in a game. Many of the D1 commits only have a short time in the NA then went on to play at the USHL level. If you look at who committed from an NA team I would be quite surprised...

Well guys, some of us don't do high school games because we have self identified that we can't keep up!! Personally, I tried and found that I was not in good enough shape to be where I should be. The current issue truly goes back to how we have treated our young officials along the way. Because they...

Generally a coach has to allege illegal equipment. The ref then measures as needed, and if illegal, the penalty is assessed. However, if the equipment is legal, the alleging team gets a minor for delay. That is per the USA hockey rules. However, high school is covered by a different set of rules, yo...

Shinbone has this one spot on. . . . Goalies are taught to hit the post as the ending point of whatever move it is, whether a pad slide or just a lateral move when the puck is low. Are people saying they should just be gentle to make sure those poor posts don't get dislodged???? Do some goalies inte...

I'm kind of surprised. It has seemed to be a consensus on this board that Minnesota has been lacking in development of goaltenders for the next level, yet there are 10 on this list. I recognize that some went to NTDP, etc, but they are still Minnesota kids. Congrats to all of them!!

Wow, this discussion is kinda nuts!! All Jack did was compliment community based hockey. It worked for him. 99% of all the kids that play hockey won't don a college sweater. I'm an old fart, but my memories are being on the rink with my friends and neighbors, hanging out in the warming house, trying...

Range, You're right, you don't have the information. I saw this guy several times during the season, and on many of those occasions he was completely out of control. The coaches that are effective and loud do so as a calculated tool. This guy didn't use temper as a tool, temper controlled him. I hav...

Some of this depends on what you call "intentional." Most goalie coaches I know teach that if you have to make a fast pad slide to the weak side, you aim for the post. . . not necessarily to knock it off, but to seal the post and not overplay the slide. More than half the time, because of ...

I just watched my kid's last regular season high school game. . . kinda sad!! As we went through the early years, I went to Steve Carroll's goalie coaching clinic. Fairly cheap (if I recall, less than $100 for an evening) and he provides great support. He will teach you many good, quick goalie drill...

Re: ref systems

What if the guy in the 1/2 man system has all the consistency in the world and knows the rules, but can't skate good enough to keep up with the play? What if the guy in the 1/2 is on the district ref board and gets to stripe games because of that? Physical appearance/condition and overall hustle in...

Goldy,

Solid analysis. . . I think the Big 9 final standings define 3, 4, and 5. Both Mayo and Century seem to be sliding a bit while Owatonna has not lost in the last 11.

In reality, it probably only defines who loses to which Lakeville, though!

That makes the unbeaten streak for Owatonna at 9 games. They are 7-0-2 since December 26.

We understand that ramping things up is not a cure all, but we felt we needed to send a message to players, coaches, officials, fans that CFB is dnagerous and needs to be on every persons mind. A further study to determine if ANYTHING can be done to minimize the risk is in process. Jablonski family...

Understand, I'm not talking about the checks from behind near the boards. We all agree those are dangerous. I've seen a bunch of head contact penalties this year, not one of which had the "victim" (only for lack of a better term) hurt in the slightest . There's no long term damage from be...
