It was an intense game, both sides played well. Edina has spurts, but EP was much more consistent throughout. The only problem I saw with the ref was during the "brawl." It would have been just like any other tussle around the net, but the refs didn't break it up after the first punch. They let it g...

Well for one, he's just the assistant. And two, high school kids now actually remember watching Walz with the Wild. Nobody that would play for East Ridge now remembers Phil Housley. so if you remember the guy from the NHL, that makes a difference? Im not saying Walz is good or bad coach, Im j...

You are still neglecting the fact that Luverne has as many conference leaders as marshal despite the fact that marshall has almost 4 times the population to ...

Well if every town in this area is in the same boat with numbers, which they are, why dont they all just play A level and play each other? Im in tune with the youth programs here, they all can compete with each other. All of these towns should be running A programs. You dont think and A program fro...

THERE ARE 4 REAL CONTENDERS IN THIS SECTION MARSHALL, LITCH, HUTCH, NEW ULM. and until the level of competition and numbers of associations grow... these are the 4 teams that will CONSISTENTLY COMPETE. Marshall has no shot, and none of these teams are contenders, yes litch, hutch, or new ulm will w...

Politics can hurt a team yes, but don't take it personal because if a player is good enough, politics will not stand in their way.

I don't know much about the rest of the section, but I think Luverne will surprise you this year. No I don't think they will go to state, but they only lost one senior and he wasn't that big of an asset for the team anyway, easily replaced. If they can find a replacement for the two goalies they had...

Ref Consistency

I know a lot of people will scoff at this thread, but in the past 4 years, I have noticed quite a difference between the refs in southwest mn and the rest of the state. For those of you who aren't familiar with swmn hockey I'll do my best to explain. With refs like Ethan Anderson, it is not uncommon...

I think critiquing players and teams and what they bring to their teams is fine, but when I read some of these thread about Benik, I wonder how old some of these people typing are. Most people here aren't trying to rip on high school players, but once they get in an argument, it is no longer about t...

Re: Kind of a Raw Deal for a #1 Seed

You talk about Tonka choking, then you say Hill-Murray should have won. Wouldn't that make THEM the chokers? Did you see the end of that game, how the goal was scored? Tonka looked just as tired in the game vs Hill, it was a night of 2 on 3's for Hill. That was a great game, but Hill outworked Tonk...

That backhand by DE over the right shoulder has to take best goal, I guess there were a couple short sided, top shelf backhands during that game.

I sat in Apple Valley's student section the first game against Blaine, and I talked to a couple of bantam players. It's kinda hard to get a good draw playing in this section not going to lie Goos_nu_eagles, I realize the top 4 teams are all good but Breck was the worst draw of all. That's all I meant. New Ulm is easily the weakest team going to the tournament, so their draw doesn't really matter. p.s. congrats ...

Everything you said is valid, but you never addressed the issue. There is no reason the score needs to be run up. A 10 goal victory is plenty, show some sportmanship and ease off. Nothing in the rule book that says you can't run up the score, but there are unwritten rules. You will never hear that c...

Yea, just get better. Maybe Virginia should have won by 30, then maybe the underclassmen would have quit. Just weed out the struggling programs instead, they don't deserve to play anyway. (sarcasm)
