As stated before I too would like to see a separate tournament for public and private. I enjoyed going to both. The problem with the private tournament would be interest. Aside from students and some parents they have no fan base. Most hockey fans in Mn really would have an interest in a private sch...

So I'm somewhere between Hermantown and the twin cities. Who would I select as best coach in the tournament. No brainer really. I'm going with the guy who gets the most out of his teams year after year. Has great success at the state tournament and does it with out having an all-star team recruited ...

Here's a lesson the privates should inherit on whats best for Mn H.S. hockey. "Mariucci became the head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey team. He was noted for not attempting to sign Canadian players for his hockey teams, but instead relying on home-grown talent from Minnesota. This...

Re: Private vs Public

In the end whats the big deal about how, where and why families choose to send their kids to Play Hockey. Fact is these teams will be made up high school students. Oh well... Actually I paraphrased an was mocking an earlier quote by I think Stpaul. But yes were on the same page about H.S. athletes ...

Re: Private vs Public

Delusional is a good word for it. Sorry, but the high school hockey you are lamenting as lost started to disappear 44 years ago. Large suburban wealthy high schools with better facilities started dominating high school hockey with Edina's first Championship in 1969. The group of guys growing up toge...

Private vs Public

I'm old..but I use to go to both the Public and Independent School Tour. back in the day. The Public tourn had one class as did The Independent Tourn. The Public had the David vs Goliath, North vs. South as did the Independent. I wish they would go back to that. Warroad vs Edina, Dululth Cathedral (...

In our own pick contest I won with only 2 wrong. The consolation final between Woodbury & Blaine and the Single "A" final between St. Thomas and Marshall. Not sure how many pts that would have been on yours.

Incidently as for Duluth Marshall stealing players from Duluth East. East has done that for many years...probably back as far as the 60's. International Falls for sure... I remember hearing stories from relatives in falls about players from across the border (canada) with adopted families in Falls o...

I watched this game and also was not impressed. Pretty sloppy actually. The announcers graveling over it being the best game they saw in ten years was a bit much. Where the heck have they been watching hockey. Edinas 1st line is good but after that it slides fast. I think this spells trouble for the...

Actually I think the current system is fine. There are probably a few schools in "A" that should or could opt up but that could dilute the talent in class "A" tournament. And there are a few in "AA" that should opt down if possible until programs improve. I think the ov...

Should be two great matchups. I cheering for both Cloquet & East in these matchups. Cloquet vs Edina: Well Cloquet at home and Edina possibly looking forward to East... but still going with Edina in this one overtime. East vs. Edina: Both have tough games the night before. Both are on a roll. Ed...
