Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Is the Motzko move to SCC 100% and the announcement (unless I missed it) just a formality?

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Yes, the change in residence rule applies to private schools as well. However, I would not say that it applies equally, in that a family can move anywhere outside of their current school district and transfer to a private school without losing eligibility. The original post by outdoorsuperstar aske...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

The change in residence rule is only marginally applicable to private schools, and any move outside of the current school district would enable the student to become immediately eligible at any private school. So a, ahem, hypothetical family could move from Minnetonka to, say, Maple Grove, and then...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Hearing from a good source that Motzko is indeed going back to SCC. Motzko, the next Kittleson? I hope not, that is sad stuff to watch. GB I’m not sure why that would be sad. We are talking about a kid who was forced to move away from his high school due to a parent changing jobs. Being uprooted li...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Do they still have a residence in STC? Otherwise the kid can't claim a hardship in asking for the transfer right? Is Tonka able to waive the clause and allowing the move?

Plymouth ice center Dec. 26-28. Looks like H-M, CEC, Blaine and Centennial.
Odd location given the named teams?

[edit] Now that I think about it it's probably a venue trying to earn some holiday $$ and the home team wasn't available.

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

It's my opinion that SOME scouts "prefer" kids playing Tier 1 (or Juniors) over High School Do I always agree with them...Of course not.. As with many things, sometime they are right and sometimes they are wrong. Today GOOD scouts, college coaches and the top shelf advisers will rarely say "no worr...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

5. As noted many times before, all Minnesota HS players (not only goalies) face similar "perceptions" from the scouts that they are weak, soft, country club mentality. Although I disagree, it's still a perception many scouts have about High School hockey in Minnesota That's an (odd?) perception giv...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?

It very well may be a ticked off father...but what he stated is more often than not true. I got to hear how the sausage is made from one of our association coaches during the HP 14's and 15's process. Basically, if you want your kid to make it...you'd better make sure your association has a lot of ...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?

The real shame with MN Hockey’s HP program is the money they rake in from families all over the state who will never have a shot at making it to National Camp no matter how well they perform at the tryout. The hockey elites, and by that I mean those with influence in MN Hockey, will always get the ...

Re: 2022 grad commits to WI on 5/10 - so much for recruiting rules

Advisors, friends of friends, big brother, uncles, neighbors, the zamboni guy and their 3rd grade mite assistant coach will all be used to get around the new recruiting rules. Even with hyperbole aside, from everything I know about the NCAA recruiting process the impact/involvement of the aforement...

I didn't realize Robb had a son committed to MSUM. Another lost legacy for the Gophers.

(No I'm not suggesting they should recruit all of them nor should they be entitled to them. Just an observation)

The model has not been ruined. Tarnished maybe, slightly different for sure, but far from ruined and even with that it's still the best system in the country.

Programs such as Minn, Wisc and Mich have been near the top of college hockey for decades. Why would anyone logically expect their recent slide to continue much longer? Also with rise of PSU, ND and OSU on the national scene it looks to being a very competitive conference soon. 4 straight NC wins st...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

I don't think the Gophers ignore recruiting northern players (at least until the end of Lucia's tenure) so much as I think they've had plenty of competition with UND, UMD and SCSU among others. And even metro kids have so many options these days that despite the "built in" advantages the Gophers sup...
