Re: University of St Thomas

I think they had a higher average attendance than SCSU last year and are right behind many of the huge Big Ten schools... 1992 is far gone. St. Cloud's and Mankato's attendance last year were roughly the same. According to USCHO.com, SCSU averaged 4146 per game, 16th in the country. MSUM ave...

Re: University of St Thomas

Penn St. had a donor who paid for the program. Notre Dame is national, not regional. Mankato is in a state hockey crazy, same reason Florida, Texas, Georgia, etc. can support so many D1 football teams. Omaha supported a USHL team far and away better than anyone else in that league for years at Aksa...

Re: University of St Thomas

The Wolves averaged 7.9k attendance last season. Yeah, but, the Wolves are not in Champaign, they play in the northwest suburbs (Rosemont) where most of the youth hockey takes place....the Mission went downtown ,which is stupid, the Fury are down by Joliet, but the highest number of rinks and young...

Re: Watch NTDP vs Elite League this weekend

Lucius with 5, and not a single one from outside of 10 feet. 4 of 5 within 3 feet. Stands next to the net and shovels in rebounds (which is certainly a skill all its own). Expends very little energy; rarely gives a hit and rarely ever takes a hit. So the next Gretzky. :P 17 total goals. 5 goals 0 a...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

Been said by multiple high school coaches that often goalies have a bit of an adjustment period after playing in HSEL once season starts. Their game can struggle early in HS season because of it. That strikes me as counter intuitive--help me understand. Are you saying that because EL goalies are se...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

If a transfer comes to a school, but the school sees the transfer in town before the actual date, does that mean then that the transfer must transfer before the transfer transfers to the school that should have denied the transfer ? Reminds me of a Robin Williams bit from Good Morning Vietnam. :mrg...

School size and education was absolutely a factor here.
Yeah because if Tonka is known for anything it's a bad education.

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Nothing more character building then whining about a move and forcing your way out while being granted an exemption on the transfer process because of your dad's connections. He could have stayed at SCC last season. Also hasn't it already been stated a good chunk of the roster at SCC are not kids he...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Have you read the COMPLETE rules surrounding transfer eligibility and the reviews and circumstances they can take into consideration when deciding eligibility? Obviously you haven't if you think that the ONLY protocol for eligibility is a family move. There are cut and dried reasons for eligibility...

Re: High school programs #s in Elite league

Breck or any other A team should not be able to play AA teams period except perhaps a mid-season tournament. Even then.... I think hockey is the only sport where this happens? If not certainly it's not as common. This in my opinion would impose a needless regulation on the better A teams that are c...

Re: High school programs #s in Elite league

Since we're yakking about the elite league, let's bring it back to high school... Certainly supports that Edina/Blake/Andover are at a different level. Breck seems to be ready to field another team capable of competing at AA (at every position except parents and administration, apparently). It is p...

I think people are missing the point from the OP. I don't think he's asking for sympathy but rather to confirm/refute the perception that MG loses a higher % of players to other opportunities compared with other schools of similar levels of talent+enrollment, and if that is so why do they have a mor...

Re: New Body Contact Rules

They need to get players back to learning how to play with their back to the wall and not facing it. I don't agree that players are intentionally facing the wall to draw a penalty because they're putting themselves at risk for serious injury if their opponent doesn't let up. I think it's more a lack...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

Edina was a rival of ours. I was a So. in '84 and had no idea they had 2 CA transplants on the roster so I wonder if most people are even aware of it. Hopefully in some of these cases they take up roots in the state after their playing days are over (like so many former North Stars and Wild players ...

It's starting to feel more and more that HS hockey will continue to lose more and more talent to early departures that I had hoped for the past several seasons. While it's still hanging on to most - and I could be wrong - but it feels like there's been an acceleration of players leaving early altho...
