In case zboni99, SEMetro and council member retired didn't know it yet, PL just opened the doors on it's new 2nd sheet of ice at Dakotah. So I think you are missing the target on what you are implying. But I do think there is a method to the madness and it probably ties more to the Jr. Gold relatio...

Frankly, Prior Lake has made an interesting choice to assist St. Thomas as opposed to being supportive of the community based hockey association model of which they're part of. Being a community based hockey association are they doing everything they can to support partner community based youth hoc...

So what we established is darn near every D1 kid on stronger AA teams got at least 20 points, which was my original point. Also, didn't the U-18s miss a couple weeks of games (x-mas tourneys)? I think that would put your average points more in the 30+ range. As I mentioned before, if you play for a ...

D1 defensemen are going to get their points against high school competition. Look at the stats of the defensemen going D1 this year. You are going to find mostly 20, 30, 40+ point players. Heck, most goalies get an assist or two per season.

I'm not a big fan of "defensive defensemen" lists. It's kind of a list for good position players that may have weak shots or stickhandling skills. An elite defenseman, especially for stronger girls teams, likely plays around half the game and plays on all PP with talented players. Strong s...

At most high schools, you really only need 4-5 good kids per class (freshman to senior) to be competitive. You don't need 17 8th and 9th graders to play bantam A. But you need to try to get your A players playing at the A level. One solution might be to combine with another small association at the ...

All of you have given great responses, but none have been all inclusive of what we have talked about as reasons (our perception of what reasons people want certain things). I was just cherry-picking the easiest fix for a growing problem. I agree there is also a "small B" problem wherein y...

You can fix the competitive problems in one of two simple ways: (1) requiring two A teams if you field a certain number (eight or more?) of teams at a given age level; or (2) setting a fixed minimum percentage of players that should be allowed to play at an A level (top 15%?). Elliott, given how dif...

This looks like an attempt to fix the problems caused by a huge association fielding only one A team. A good example of this can be seen from Edina's squirt A scores - 10 reported games - only 1 game within 7 goals. This year Edina has 12 squirt teams with only one A team. Any reasonable hockey pers...

I am assuming that there are alot of seniors out there that were offered tenders at schools that may not have been their first choice, but, are now, more than ever, looking at those schools as their only option since they haven't heard from the schools they were hoping to. Won't D1 coaches hold sch...

Babineau from Roseville, she's going to hopefully sign a D-1 tender somewhere and you all are going to wonder who she is. Not flashy, but an unstoppable motor.

Last year folks complained that QRF was bad early on because EP (the then undefeated state champ) was not number 1 in early QRF polls. The more things change... Last year people were noting that QRF was more accurate in play-offs than KRACH. However, the top 20's in each class were almost identical ...

the realignment allows Hastings to cruise to state
I thought Hastings graduated a few key players with respectable stats. Did Hastings get a serious offseason talent infusion to go from losing conference record to "cruise to state" status?

What's the theory of thought here, do most of these teams use these as a try out, or do they play them out with their varsity players? These can be pretty artificial. For some, coaches will play fourth and sometimes fifth lines; sixth, seventh and eighth defense; and second and third goalies to fig...

Better question is how EP will avoid plummeting in 08-09? Is a formal combo with Kennedy in the works?

Why don't folks (like the earlier Lakeville parent poster) know about the change to playing in the North Division?
