At the end of the day, it's a horse barn!

I haven't posted here in a long, long time, but I've been smiling while reading this thread. As gawd-awful the Coliseum was as a hockey venue, the storied hockey history so many great kids built over the years turned it into a special place. Three of my favorite hockey moments happened on the Fairgr...

Same Thing, Different Day

"Most men learn from their mistakes; wise men learn from the mistakes of others." I've said it again, and again, and again. Those of you who have read this board over the years have heard me say: "It's not what league is better or best, it's about which league is the best fit for you." The NAHL is a...

Faust is a Piper

Flatontheice - Check the Hamline University roster - you'll find that Faust is a Fighting Piper. He and Matt Wanvig (Osseo 2005) were a nice netminding duo as Hamline won their first MIAC championship in 60 years in 2007-08.

NAHL Happenings?

Look for F-M to re-appear at the Super Rink.

Look for the AL Team to name a MN HS coach as their new head coach any day now.

Look for a new team in Owatonna, led by former Express coaches Cullen and Fink.

Couple ER Additions

Not bad on the ER list, Ray, but I might propose a couple others:

D Tryg Sarsland - MIAC Player of the Year at St. John's, blue line rock and offensive threat in HS

F Richie Anderson - Metro Player of the Year

Best to Randolph

If that's true, I wish the best for Coach Randolph's speedy recovery. He's one of the good ones, and I know he and Tony Sarsland respect and like each other. East-Elks battles are always fun.

A couple words of advice, young man: on the ice, keep your feet moving and your head up; on this board, keep your your eyes open and your fingers mostly silent but always positive. Never, ever, hop on a public board and say "my team sucked," .. and then make it worse by pointing out personal achieve...

Quickgym & Lumberjack out of line

Quickgym and Lumberjack you're way out of line. In neither post do I sense even a modicum either humor or intelligence. Chat up the game all you want; opine on players' skill (or lack thereof) all you want. Evaluate Sarsland as a coach till you're blue in the face. But at least display some semblenc...

Michigan P*ick

Why would you post something like that? Lucia's a helluva player. He fits right in as a freshman, he plays his role and plays it well, without trying to be something he's not. He's strong, strong on the puck, responsible defensively and offensively, and has chipped in some awfully big goals. He's a ...

It's all about the Preps and the Juniors out East

State Champ - on the East Coast it's all about Prep School and Junior hockey. High School teams like we talk about are mediocre out there - lots of 9th and 10th graders playing, and the best of those then move on to prep schools or the juniors. Prep schools are tough to compare, too; in the past, a ...

Obermeyer's a nitwit

The local TV news last night interviewed the fan who jumped out of the Metrodome stands to run the bases in the middle of the Twins-Red Sox game. It was Jake Obermeyer, a Chaska hockey player who played for the USHL's Tri-City last year, and is listed as a Robert Morris recruit. Obermeyer was sporti...
