I remember it happening to the Vancouver Canucks a few years ago. I heard, probably not to anybodies surprise, that they sold out of the 1,400 tickets at Aldrich today. Who is excited? Anybody have some all-time stats to post? Remember when they used to do this at the Hippodrome? 1400??? Why are th...

Not exactly how I define "late bloomer". In my mind, late bloomers are literally behind the curve in any number of categories including skill, talent, height, strength, etc. Like, it's obvious they're not a standout, but then they grow, or they lift weights, or they train, or they get com...

Some very good points, JoltDelivered, but there's one I disagree with. You acknowledge that some players are "early bloomers" while saying others who don't get noticed early on are not "late bloomers". On the contrary I do think some kids take longer to develop their skills and ...

The Minnesota model works well if you happen to be in an association with a minimum of 3 teams per level, but unfortunately does not serve a high end player that lives in the footprint of an association with 2 or even 1 team at a level with no other options allowed. To say they can play a higher le...

I have to say I do enjoy seeing people reason away any success a Tier 1 team may have against a Minnesota team. The fact is that Tier 1 is a very good model for the top end player, whether Minnesota chooses to acknowledge that or not. Speculative reasoning as to why a given result occurred is nothi...

The old tear down this wall debates on here.... :-({|= I still can't believe there was a time when talented - small association kids -were not allowed to try out for HP.. Even at 35 games its only adding a game every other week. Looking at it that way I think it seems pretty easy to be honest. We are in agreement here. To be honest I'm not sure what the rub is with the MSHSL in adding more games. It might be a work-life balance thing for players. Remember it's a sch...

Kids SHOULD NOT be allowed to leave Bantam hockey to play JV. Period. Kids should develop with other kids their age. From a development perspective I have no problem with this but bantams can often times be 3x - 4x the cost of JV hockey. A lot of people who jump from bantams to JV do it for financi...

You could add all of those (hand full) of kids going straight d1 and it would still be a 5-1 ratio of kids from midget hockey. Also I did not say every the rest of the country I said Midget AAA. Pretty sure there are other avenues high end players play in other parts of the country example prep sch...

I 100% disagree on this.... 6 months at bantam age is where it makes THE MOST difference. Have you been to bantam games before? Have you seen the unbelievable size difference that occurs at the bantam age? You have kids who are 5'0" tall and 110 lbs playing against kids that are 6'2" and ...

I believe you will find more MN HS players go straight to D1 College than do Tier 1 Midgets. Which will skew your numbers. Besides numbers wise we are talking about one state vs the rest of the country. Certainly not the best path in MN. You could add all of those (hand full) of kids going straight...

Tier 1 has been, at least in recent years, a solution looking for a problem in MN. Guys...we have the best of both worlds here in MN. High level affordable, community based hockey in the winter and Tier 1 - like AAA super teams in the summer (Machine, Blades, etc...). I think it's great. From my per...

So having watched youth / HS hockey for the past 15 years it's just a fact that refs will get it wrong once in a while. And that includes the 2 referee one linesman system at HS. With that said I have used bad calls as a development opportunity for the players that live in my home. Overcoming advers...

I was always against checking below HS, I have seen the light now-checking must come back to PW. It does not need to be in squirts though. I agree. To me only part of it is learning to deliver or take body contact. The other part, which in my book is more important, is wiring your brain to avoid bo...

With that in mind I say mission accomplished. Well done Iggy. 8)
