I agree that it is a difficult process to get it down to 16 players. They could have picked 16 different players and still get the same results and disappointment.

Hard to believe that one third of US college hockey (D1) is made up of international players. Do we not have enough talent in this country to fill these rosters?

Scorekeeper, great post and I agree with ALL of it. This is the reason the CHL is getting bashed. The more US players head north, the more bashing of the CHL. The NCAA is a BILLION dollar plus business on the backs of these kids. Most D1 hockey schools roster 30 players yet only get 18 scholarships ...

I dont agree. The actual dollar value is better. My premise is that the draft numbers dont lie. Just saying "I dont like the CHL"is not a good reason.

Players also get a scholarship while playing in the CHL. The scholarship is good for schools in the US and Canada. Not sure why you think this would be a bad choice.

The CHL produces the most NHL players in the world. If you are talented enough its a great way to go. Look at the NHL central scouting list. Dominated by CHL players.

For 98s its too far out to say. For the 97s a lot can change after the USHL draft tomorrow night and colleges being able to make contact in June. 96s are probably holding out till the very last minute to decide this summer. All great options for these players but I bet many stay and go the the US ro...

Was there really a player with a -7 in one game who made the cut?(hockey8543) If so, who?
If Wilson was cheated (oldgoalie85) who is on the list that should not be there?
Are there players who make it to NY that are not involved in the tryout process? (Anyone)

I still cant believe some of these touchy feely Minnesota wimps are so bent out of shape about a visit to Vancouver. He was kicked off the team, he didnt leave. By the way, elite players leave to for the challenge. Thats what elite players do. Minnesota seems to only have one mold for hockey players...

Wow!!! what a great life lesson for a ninth grader. Kick him off the team! Lesson learned. If other teams want to chat with you keep quiet or be terminated. Very sad state in the "state of hockey".

Re: the real issue

Are you cracked? The coach told him if he goes there would be consequences. So he goes and gets the boot. That is the way life works and it should send a message. Why didn't he wait a few weeks until after the season. This was bad planning/advice or pressure from the WHL.[/quote] "Consequences" for ...

Yes, there are always risks. But, the Whl is not always honest with kids and Alex and anyone else going to the WHl should be very careful. It is a business and there is a reason everyone says they are slimy. There are a lot of kids that go there and get nothing in return. The education package is g...

There will always be risks. Transfering to a private school is one of them. It works for some but not for all. To be successful takes risks. Some kids like to stay in their comfort zone and stay home, others seem to excell when being pushed to the limit. This kid probably heard the same crap when he...

For a player of his age this is a great accomplishment. If he can play in the WHL next season its a no brainer. His development is linked to his years with the Machine and Wisconsin Fire. Both strong programs with competitive schedules. The the CHL (WHL) would be a natural progression for this playe...

Re: Select 15 picks

It is an agonizing process, picking the top players to represent MN at any age level, lets not forget that. It is not an exact science, but these folks know what they are doing. It is my hope that a player not selected will be HUNGRIER and continue to train, work hard, and keep a positive attitude....

I would suggest that the Brick should allow 2 teams from Minnesota like they do with Ontario( Pro Hockey, Toronto Bulldogs). Minnesota could send the Blades and the Machine. The Machine beat the winner of the brick for the 98,99,and 00 levels when they were in Winnipeg. I am not saying Machine woul...

I agree. The Brick is a great tournament. One of the best. I'm a fan of both the Blades & Machine, just not with everything they do. I just think this year's crew is going against their own "code" to have a better showing, so they can "recruit" against the Machine. Having an older Blades kid, I thi...

The Brick is a great tournament. Take a look at the 94s-97s and see how many players make it to the advanced teams (15s,16s,17s) when they get older. I would say the Blades do a great job at identifying talent at a young age. Love them or hate them this club does get the talented players when they a...
