Never saw a ringette game. Sounds rather novel. Too bad 'pistol' missed the boys high school HOCKEY tournament this year. Or maybe he just slept through it. Wasn't the best I've ever seen. Will watch again. High school hockey is the most enjoyable level of a wonderful sport to watch -- whether a giv...

Yes, for a few reasons: 2) The skill level is going down, way down. Kids are much better skaters today than 30 years ago but they can't pass, can't catch a pass, move without the puck, back check, hit the net 3 out of 10 times with a shot, etc. The AA team that played the best team hockey won each ...

Re: You could'a voted in my poll

... Come on. Some greats memories. Thanks so very, very much for taking the time to do an historian's job of summarizing. Nice work! May be I should have tried it this way: Can you think of any tournament (I go back to 1962) that was LESS interesting than this one, overall? The IFalls teams in the ...

...So in the end, Hill-Murray owes the high school hockey fans an apology for making this tourney so boring & leaving no real doubt, who best team in the state was. We are sorry! Huh!?! Last time I looked, Hill-Murray was only one of the 16 teams in the tournament. And only one of TWO cro...

In what ways?
There are plenty of reasons listed for the deficiencies seen in 2008 but all you've listed are years, so, uh...any specifics to offer?

You could'a voted in my poll

It's interesting that this topic re-surfaced (wish I'd heard the caller on KFAN that triggered the start of this thread). Anyway I can't remember a less interesting and boring tournament, overall, than the 2008 competition. It seems that most of the "no it wasn't!" respondents were those w...

The thread began with "after 2 1/2 days of watching" and the question of the 2008 tournament as boring at that point. Now that the entire event is over, the question can be asked again. And it was -- on balance -- a boring tournament. One that will be forgotten very quickly, except by 2 te...

2008: The most predictable (boring) tournament ever?

After 2 1/2 days of watching as closely as I always have (since 1962 or 46 years), I've got to say this is the most boring tournament ever. It has had precious little drama, no 'Cinderella' element, too many blow-outs and unless one has 'a dog in the fight,' been largely uninteresting. And yet, I wo...
