If the U14 team and JV team are from the same association - high school district, don't assume that a weak JV team does not result in an even weaker U14 team. The two often go hand in hand. Coaches are key here. At many HS the JV and varsity are more intertwined then others. Some conferences have st...

Top level officials will even say so ... sometimes in public.

Re: can a coach be a bully ?

I have noticed a trend, are we as parents willing to call our coach a bully ? If so would Herb ever been able to coach? So if you read between the lines in Miracle, much of Brooks' behavior was attributed or tied to him having the team (used to beating each other up in the college ranks) rally toge...

NO. Being tough does not require bully or demeaning behavior. It is no longer acceptable in schools or the workplace. If you cannot lead your life to that level ... then face the possible loss of a job or lawsuits. There is no need to be a bully. Have a coach-player-parent meeting early on and lay o...

People often fail to realize how tough it is to be a good goalie on a weak team.

Not all shots are created equal.

The number of quality of shots and number of odd man rushes are high.

Make a mistake and kick out a rebound ... good team the D clears, weak team not so much.

This team has been hid by STA, but with STA moving to AA, I predict you will see them in St. Paul every year, unless they decide to move up or grow too big for A. Over time, many a good TG team has knocked out Mahtomedi as often (if not more often) as STA. The rest of section 4A would have a tough ...

Checking accounts for most injuries (including concussions) in the NHL ranks ?

Mid ice collisions accounts for many of the more serious injuries ?

Some pros are relentless and fearless along the boards and in front of the net ... others no so much.

The section semis and finals should be tough if there is any parity at all. Sometimes that parity is regional, but is still works. Unranked and/or lower seeded teams reaching state - good for them, the top team(s) in that region lost the wrong game. Sure there are a few soft teams that reach state e...

Sorry but no women's hockey coach should be paid over $200,000 per year. Women's hockey is not a revenue generating sport.

Her ability to win championships and coach Olympic caliber women should enable her to find another job quickly or even a spot with USA Hockey Women's Development.

Moderation is often best.

Marketing and hype are alive and well across most youth sports.

Whole lot of people making a living by "training" kids.
