How much does Edina's success be attributed to MN Made's programs in the recent years? Being in the backyard of Edina, MN Made offers many programs that Edina kids probably have the highest participants. On the PWAA team I know 10 for sure skated at MM. Most of those skated both in the Summer and W...

Re: AA/A Pilot: Is this the tipping point?

Tony, Is the increase in waivers more a case of parents not understanding the AA/A concept? Really, if I understand things correctly, the only place where teams are affected is at playoffs. AA and A teams will play each other all season long just as they have done in the past. At playoffs, they spl...

It would be best to check with your association president and District Director for the correct answer. Greybeard is trying to say that you'll have a tough time. Tim Timm will tell you no waivers in District 10 per phone call. Then the new rule will hurt kids in small associations. In district 3 no...

over 40 The teams will still be registered as either A,B1,B2 and C. AA/A does not split until the District tournament so if an association declares either AA or A the teams are still registered as A Teams. So, what I'm hearing is a kid in an association that doesn't offer an A team will still be ab...

How is this new rule going to affect the waiver rule that allows a kid to wavier to another association if his/her association doesn't offer a A team? If it doesn't change and lets a kid waiver to a AA program if his/her association is only an A program, that's one thing. If it doesn't allow a waive...

Agree, all good points. If an association can't find a qualified non-parent A coach for PW's or Bantams, they might want to look in a mirror and ask themselves why don't coaches out there want to coach in our association. -- Not only bring checking back at the peewee level, introduce at the squirt l...

Don't just wax rhapsodic about it; put together a team of your boys friends, skate a couple times, and enter a tournament. The reason those days are over is because those "diluted" teams would kick your butt. They are bigger, faster, stronger, and more talented - all of them. IM, Maybe yo...

I was responding to Scrapiron who said "It seems impossible to get the strongest players on three or four teams". I'm not saying it's the way to go, but it adds to my point, that I believe AAA teams are diluted, muddied, whatever you want to call it from even 3, 4, 5, years ago. In your op...

Some interesting thoughts. Looking at the Cariou Cup I wonder where does a team like the 99 Machine play? I saw them play 99 Velocity and sadly it ended Machine winning 14 - 0 The Machine record for the Caribou was: 7-0 over Ice edge Blue 7-3 over Wis Flyers 14-0 over Reebok Nationals 14-0 over Vel...

As summer hockey matures, I think the hope would be for the lopsided scores to balance out and every team finds it correct level of competition. Again, it's unfortunate that hockey between March and September is referred to as AAA, that term is not indicative of the current trend in summer hockey. ...

Who should do a better job????? Good question. Who is responsible for scouting 7 year olds and tracking which summer teams they're playing on, so they can deny entry to the elite division? Also still looking for that magic number of AAA teams that is acceptable. It must not be 40 or 50. Is it 30, 2...

I think it has a lot to do with the money making opportunities. Lets open a training facility, and put together a AAA team from every birth year from 96-03. We can make a living by charging kids to train at our facility, and play on our teams. Gone are the days of friends putting together a team, ge...

Residency rule

Has there been any changes to the residency rule from last year? If I remember right, you register where you live, and you can apply for a waver to play where you go to school. And associations are obligated to grant wavers.

Don't forget the 7th grader in Rochester that played on the boys HS tennis team. That team was called "Boy's Tennis". IHO, there's no way you're going to legally keep girls from playing, and if you try, you're going to open yourself up to a lawsuit.

Prior lake vs Andover in the final at Orono this weekend. Are there any other squirt tournaments this weekend? Prior lake seems to be very strong this year. Also, for a holiday weekend tournament you quite often have a lot of friends and family that are around and would like to come watch the games so I agree that the $850 estimate is very low. They are making a killing on this tourney! And to the original question...why would they update the site with...
