Thanks for the input. I know that someone is making a little money on these events, but I'm fine with that if we can add another 4 or 5 quality games to the end of the short high school season.

Midwest Xposure or Gopher State Festival Tourney?

Don't know much about these two March invite tournaments, but which would you recommend? They both take place on the same weekend.

Any idea how hard it is to get in to the Midwest Xposure?

Thanks. Happy Hockey Day!

Re: District 8 Playoffs

- Woodbury (13-1-2) - Lakeville South (9-7-0) Lakeville has outscored the Predators 8-6 through 2 meetings this seasons and they have the goaltending to pull upsets. In fact, Lakeville handed Woodbury their only district loss of the season, so the Preds are probably as happy to see Lakeville as Ros...

Sorry, I guess I didn't answer your question very well. Orange is the "A1" and Black is the "A2". Orange will play the top tier tournaments: Winnipeg, Chicago, along with the Caribou Cup and Stars & Stripes. Black is in the other local tournaments: Independent Classic, LSS to...

The 97s have a group of 25 skaters (5 lines) - 3 lines on Orange, 2 on Black. It is run similar to the Legacy program. For tournaments one Orange line will play on the Black team in each of their tournaments (on a rotating basis). They all practice together. I'm not sure if the other age groups are ...

Eagan 4 Apple Valley 2 Farmington 2 Woodbury 1 some really good hockey happening out there. Was Farmington/Woodbury game as close as the score shows? Yep. Great game by the two teams, but horribly officiated. Woodbury had the tying goal stuffed in before the whistle disallowed because the ref didn'...

I have a Dec.1 and it sucks for summer hockey. He is one of the better kids in the winter, but in the summer he has to play with the older kids who played up one level all season. I also have a june B-day that we started school late. so he is the oldest in his class but has to play winter hockey wi...

If you are looking for a place on the East side of the twin cities (close to St. Paul) I would recommend Woodbury. The schools are as good as any you will find. The hockey program is very strong with good numbers (current Bantam A state champs). There is abundant housing available so even if you pla...

You are probably right, there is only so much a parent or coach can do to help in this area. We'll just try to stay positive and keep it fun. Hopefully the light bulb will go on soon  .

More good suggestions, thanks. We've recorded his games before and that does seem to help. It does help him realize what his other options were each time he made a decision with the puck. We may need to do this more often, not just for big games or tournaments. It would be nice if coaches would have...

Thanks for the advice. This would work even better seeing a game live, since it is easier to focus on one player and see what he does without the puck. Too bad the Wild didn't make it this year. :(

If anyone else has any good ideas they would be appreciated.

Ways to improve on ice awareness and knowledge of the game

I'm looking for good ways to improve a kid's on-ice awareness and knowledge of the game (for PeeWees/Bantams.) It seems the best players aren't always the most skilled kid or best skater on the ice, but usually they are the ones that are in the right spot at the right time and they have a knack for ...

Woodbury definitely played as bad a game as they had all season. One shot in the 1st period. Unfortunately their best scorer, who's as good offensively as any PeeWee I've seen and has averaged over two goals a game, is out sick and it seemed to affect their confidence. Elk River has a very talented ...

Does anyone know what the latest possible date is for the PeeWee A/B state finals? Not that our team is likely to be there, but we are scheduling a spring vacation and don't want a potential conflict. That would ruin any vacation! Thanks.

At first the difference in the speed of the game will be a shock to most players, but they will adjust. As long as they don't lose their confidence I think it will only help them in the end. Some kids won't adjust well to the transition to checking, but they will have to make that transition at some...

The teams are balanced, via a draft. We just played our only scheduled game vs the other team. White won 4-2 but the shots were close and it could have gone either way. White seems to have a little more scoring punch up front and Blue is stronger defensively, but overall they're pretty even.

Teams in Tourney -
Eden Prairie (Going to Fargo)
Minnetonka (Going to Fargo)
Mound/Westonka
Rochester Red
Rosemount (Going to Fargo)
St. Michael/Albertville (Going to Fargo)
Stillwater
Woodbury Blue (Going to Fargo)

Woodbury Blue will not be in Fargo. That's Woodbury White.
