Does no one remember what made the Minnesota Boys State Hockey Tournament so alluring? It was one community raised and developed team vs. the others. School, team and community pride vs. the others. 20 guys growing up together, playing together, developing together, and dreaming of playing in the s...

Ya gotta give Plante credit, he is doing a great job of deflecting the real reason Hermantown got beat...they were outcoached! The refs didn't blow the lead, Hermantown did. Accept some responsibility Mr. Plante and you would earn more people's respect. They blew two big leads in 2 of the last thre...

Agree 100%. you can't have it both ways.... in the other thread you stated schools like providence, spa, Blake , etc... should stay in class a until they have success. Which is it.....success or population. Really? You don't see the distinction here? Listen close... On the other thread I'm saying t...

Go back to 1 16 team tournament. 14 sections made up of public schools 2 sections made up of all the private and co opp schools from around the state. I can see some support for this idea here, except I would hope we would not put the St. Peter/Le Sueur/Henderson etc. co-op, the Fairmont/Blue Earth...

Re: Class A competition
Something is not right. There's nothing but apathy and empty seats at the A games. Fans possibly not interested in these 494 ring privates dominating the outstate small public teams. I'm not saying there's not great outstate teams, just not enough of them to ensure 4 good tournament pairings. Kind ...

I don't hate private schools. I will root against HM, BSM, etc. in AA but I don't think they are abusing the system the way STA has and Breck continues to do. If Breck, STA, and T-G opted up prior to this season, the A tourney would probably be: Hermantown Marshall Lourdes Apollo EGF Delano Mahtome...

Here are my thoughts Rainier and i apologize for calling you simple minded earlier in this thread: (No offense taken.) STA is a tremendous school who should be playing hockey at the AA level. They have proven over the last ten years that by investing in high quality coaches they have been able to r...

Re: Is St. Thomas Academy the best team in the State?
I know very well that majority of the St. Thomas Academy fans & community have wanted the team to move up since they won in 2008. The fact is their headmaster and athletic director have held them back from moving up, mentioning that they are an academic institution first, athletics not being th...

HSHOCKEYWatcher- your analysis was brutal. Zone play was 50 50. Sprang let in 2 soft goals early, Benilde had double the scoring chances. The no goal was not put in by another player the initial shot hit goalie glove and went in. I don't like to complain about refs but this was one of the worst off...

I think the anti-STA sentiment is a getting to be a game-changer. Elite metro kids in associations that feed weak public school programs look at STA vs. AHA or BSM and say they'd rather play AA. They surely get more exposure to the NHL, D1, and juniors scouts at AA. STA has had a little luck recent...

So your saying they should NOT take the best players because they come from the same school. Now that is wrong. The league is suppose to showcase the most talented players regardless of what school they play the regular season with. It looks to me like overall they did that. Are there some that got...
