Arrrr!

The good old days of yesteryear were the greatest - when kids actually knew how to write in more than 140 character phrases. It's a shame because you just can't get a decent poke at other teams using twitter. I keep looking for "USHSHO" gold in the JG forum, but come up empty handed every ...

Classic finish

At the end of the day it was a Wayzata - Edina match up, the two teams tied for first place in the regular season and as even a game as you could hope for. Wayzata gets the title in the second overtime on a beautiful snipe. . Awesome job by the Edina association hosting all three levels of JR Gold t...

Those were the days

You're all right about the banter that use to happen on this forum. It was great reading all the trash talk every day knowing everyone loved to dish it out as well as take it but also knowing that on the ice everyone had a respect for each other and just loved to play the game. What a great league!

Time to move up

It's time for STA to move to the level they belong. Not too often the stripes really control the outcome of the game, but this is one of them. Weak call on Hermantown with 1:57 left and a huge miss on STA right before the goal. Poor performance. STA did bring it at the end, but this is a tainted win.

Good topic

I like this topic because I think there can be some good fine tuning of this whole process. First-things-first, the introduction of the fair play point has dramatically improved the level of play at the JG level of hockey. Even in the five years I've had kids playing, I've seen much better play, at ...

I vote for the Big "O".

I voted for the Big "O", but Woodbury's tough - big, hard hitting, their game relies on force, not grace - but their darn good at it. Should be a good tourney.

C'm on Josh - rally the crew and raise the Bear flag.

Go Orange!

Metro Hockey Scholarships!!!!!

Hey all you Jr Gold Seniors, Patchy here, start thinking about the Metro league college scholarships that are available each year. In 2009, they gave away six $1,000 scholarships. It's not about how good a player you are, it's about who you are. Here's from the website: Applications for Scholarships...

Edina Green

Harrrrrrrrd to believe the season is over. Can't quite believe it yet. Anyhow, the boys and I had a chance to watch Edina Green take on Roseville in the final game of their season. I grabbed a couple of snaps of a few of the guys. Sorry I didn't get more - next year I'll make it a mission. Enjoy the...

It ain't no Bear......

Great jobs to all the teams in the tournament. LV's goalie was on, the Dangle Tank proved he is a varsity level player, WBL gave it one heck of a go in the final game (and proved in many ways why they're a class association), Edina Green cleaned up the left side of the bracket and we found out that ...

I sure hope the choice words included: scallywags, ruffians, rapscallions, scoundrels, rouges, scamps, savages, plunderers, pillagers, hooligans, thugs, hoods, gangsters, pirates and most importantly, danglers. Best Tournament and Trophy

Now that the year is wrapping up, let's take a quick survey: Who hosts the best tournament and more importantly, who has the best trophy? My vote is for White Bear Lake. Not only do they host a good weekend, complete with team hot dog eating contest and full video production of the games (available ...

My dream......

I would love to see "Best of the Bs" teams formed from the two Wayzata "B" teams, the two Edina "B" teams and the two WBL "B" teams. Play the three teams in a round robbin. No winner necessary because just watching that would be Junior Gold hockey at it's abso...

Wayzata Blue vs Edina

Darrrrrrrrrn that Edina Green team! They've beaten both Wayzata teams in the past two days. Both were 2-1 games (Wayzata Blue actually lost 3-1, but the third was an empty netter). It was a tight game and let me tell you both of those teams can skate! Edina's #6 had a goal that was about as sick as ...

Cheering for everyone

I think the fans were cheering for both teams equally. They loved the action. It was really nice to see so many shipmates show up for the skirmish!

Fun game. Both teams left everything they had out on the ice that night.

Watch out later this week Gold, Blue will be out for their revenge.

Headstand

The Edina Green goalie made some saves that were high sea piracy. There was a flurry where he stopped two solid shots, ended up on his back and Wayzata shot the puck towards a wide open net and somehow he snagged it with his glove. Awesome moves. Sweet game by Edina, especially the tunes and the gre...

Looks like Mermaid Man touched a raw nerve - with a response from Warriordangler that vitriolic, he must be on to something.

WBL Orange

WBL Orange is a class act. They have great players, coaches and parents, one of the best tournaments in town and THE best trophy in the metro (the old Brooklyn Park Pirate was pretty beast, too). Bottom line is WBL knows how to put hockey teams on the ice. Great organization. Why Orange is not in th...

Well here they arrrrrrrr, the latest shots from the ol' canon. What a weekend of hockey at the White Bear JGB tourney. There were some great hits, lots of action and fantastic teams all around. Trash talkin

They ain't hatin' on people, they're just trash talkin'. If you don't get a rise out of people on forums (like this one), it's just a bunch of posts about scores and +/- stats and you might as well read the dictionary for how exciting that would be. You gotta have a sense of humor about these tweets...
