Josh Seward

For those that may know the Seward family. This has bounced around social media a bit but thought I would post here as well for anyone that may want to help. Josh passed away this weekend. https://www.gofundme.com/f/lets-rally-together-and-help-josh-seward?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link_al...

Re: Class A QF - Dodge County vs Hermantown

Assume it is 7 FULL days...... and they still have to test negative on Thursday to be able to play Friday for the 10 day quarantine.
If one player tests positive on Thursday does that take the whole team out?

In our association this winter our class of 5th graders (older 02s some younger 01s) was huge by our standards. Our class of 4th graders (older 03s some younger 02s) is tiny. Maybe 1/4 the size of the 5th grade class. Other associations see this? If so, might explain why the 03 class is not as stron...

But then what would be the point of a forum such as this?

I can read the flyer, just thought folks might have heard more about it.

That is my question. If you read thee flyer it looks like they will be competing for the same kids. Since it is based out of MM I wonder if this is intended to replace the Machine and maybe look more like a HoneyBaked team or something.

Then there is the biggest "egg in your face" moment... when Rau was just ROCKED along the boards, the DE students started chanting "Rau's-a-pu$$y!" And who scores the game winner? Yep... that same guy the fans called a pu$$y. That was 216, not the DE student section. The only disappointment was the ...

Cliff, I have the same age kid you do but will offer the following based on our experiences. 3 on 3--All depends on the league. We did a house lague with our association and he got very little out of it. Very unorganized-which was the intent--and very little effort on a consistent basis. We are now ...

How about the fact that the kids enjoy playing the full-ice games? Not saying they need 30 a year but if 10 full ice games keeps the kids interested and having fun then it is time well spent. Sorry, but I have seen the reaction of the 6-8 year olds before and after both and its not close. The kids l...

"Patrick Roy did not take his equipment off and skate with his teammates."

Sure when he was fifteen, but what about at six? Regardless, I would argue that a kid should learn to skate in "regular" pads before goalie pads are added to the mix.
High School Hockey Tournament

I just read an article in one of the local papers that discussed the possibility of a 64 team high school basketball tournament in Minnesota. It got me thinking that maybe it would be an interesting format for the hockey tournament. Sections would lead to a field of 64 teams. First and second rounds...

I tend to agree with all of the above comments. It is important to let every kid that wants to give it a shot the opportunity to do so. Also, we actually had a kid in our association commit to playing goalie full-time (or nearly full time) as a first grader last year. This same kid has now changed h...

Anybody have any details about what this program will be offering this year at the 02 level? I have been unable to find a website or other source of information. Interested in whether they will have open and/or invite team, hours of icetime, tournaments, coaches, etc. Not interested in bashing or op...

Along these lines, if anyone is aware of a resource where a person could get the opinions of physicians or other medical personnel regarding specific types of helmets I would be quite interested. I have heard the claims of the manufacturers that certain helmets, such as the M11, reduce concussions b...

Andover is two years away from being relevant in this section. As Karl said they lost most of their team from last year.

JSR--your post is interesting in that I have not seen 1/2 ice played this way, perhaps is just our association. Are most associations using the "tournament style" as described by JSR? Our association uses the 1/2 ice style with a golie at each end and I really do not see the benefit in playing 1/2 i...

I have seen a few programs that offer an 03/04 team as a scaled down version of their standard AAA team. One for example offered 20 hours of ice and one tournament. Perhaps Reebok is doing something similar.

Thanks for the replies. I am particularly interested in the younger groups say 01-03. As far as skill level, I will have to let the try-out process sort that out.
