Re: The Hermantown Thread
Well then I guess no problem with certain A teams recruiting to make all star type teams to almost guarantee a trip to state and keep kids moving in. Pretty much a public school operating as a private. If that is a good thing then I digress

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Just quit opt ups and have teams play where their enrollment dictates 7A would have Grand Rapids, CEC, HTOWN(Lake Superior Stars High), Denfeld, Geenway Rock Ridge, Hibbing and 8A Roseau, Warroad etc. Would make for some better sectional match ups.

Re: People wanting to stay A... about single A teams recruiting
What if there was no moving up a class, what if all schools had to play where their enrollment dictates. That would put CEC and Grand Rapids in 7A. Then some of the kids(or should I say parents) couldn't just pick up and move to H-town aka Lake Superior Stars high school team for a 99.8% chance of g...

Re: 7A - Thoughts
Wow, interesting stat for a small town single A school. Can't help to wonder how much fun it would be to watch section 7a hockey if the kids stayed in in their own programs to play. I think it would be a very competitive section.

Re: 7A - Thoughts
Sad to see Virginia struggle while the kid they voted in their captain last year is on Hermantown first line. Can't help to think it would have helped to have him stay and try to lead his old team.

Re: 7A - Thoughts
As I sit watching the game on my9 I was wondering if anyone knew this stat for the Hawks. How many of the Hawks players started in Hermantown youth hockey from mites and are on the varsity. Not stirring the pot but just curious, we all know the Hawks get a ton of move ins.

Re: The Hermantown Thread
Looks like Virginia-MIB gave the Hawks a game last night, I suppose there will be a calling for Virginia-MIB to move up to AA now, they pulled in 6 kids that open enrolled from Eveleth-Gilbert/ME and one defenseman that open enrolled from Ely/Babbitt all to play hockey in Virginia.

Eveleth/Gilbert/Mesabi East is doing pretty well but definitely plays an easier schedule.

I must be the only one around that likes having the Hawks in 7A. My kids play in 7A, not HT but a range team and I love having them in 7A. It reminds me of when it was a one class system back in 80's when most years you had to get through a very good GR program but when it happened it was so bitter ...

Personally I like having Hermantown in 7A. The team that finally beats the Hawks to go to the X will feel so elated. It reminds me of when we had the one class system, 7A was you had to generally beat Grand Rapids and when a team did it was bitter sweet. I personally hope the Hawks stay in 7A and lo...

I posted this on another thread but feels it fits here too. I have boys playing on a different 7A team but I like having Hermantown in section 7A. It will make it sweet the year one of the other teams knocks of a great team. Reminds me of Rapids and others back in the day with the one class system. ...

Take nothing away from Hermantown great program and great people but do not use the numbers argument on A vs AA if you look at the rest of 7A the teams are lucky to roster 25 kids. Most have a freshman or like Hibbing two freshman rostered to get 25 kids and yes Hermantown due to a great program and...
