Hockey411, Hey - why don't you join the rest of us in a place called REALITY !!!! What you said could not be further from the truth !! I guess you are entitled to your opinion, but don't tell lies and distort the facts in an effort to stir the pot, and cook up a bunch of BS about how their is troubl...

GHS, Could not agree with you more. The Summer AAA thing is getting so obnoxious - you cannot imagine how difficult it is to put a AAA team together.... the parents want to know who you have "signed" thus far, what big names, so my kid can play on the best AAA team - parents changing alleg...

[GHS WROTE] OK - Let's count the "abuses" by # of players. I bet they are less than 10 in G HS Hockey MSHSL wise. And what are these "abuses?" The move of NDP level players between schools? I guess that's what I assume we're referencing? How many were OE? How many were Private? I...

OK, So let's say the legislature nixes the MSHSL ruling, and we have O/E with no restrictions.... how do we control the abuses that we all know are going on. Let's not BS each other about wanting to O/E for academic and athletic reasons together - we are not that naive. How do you stop the next EP f...

Finance_gal, Couldn't agree with you more !!!! What the heck was the MSHSL thinking when they created the monster known as Section 4AA ????????? Stillwater will be tough for at least 2 more years, and then they throw in conference rival Roseville (will be tough for a few more years, especially next ...

Well said hockeyfan#4 !!! Congratulations to all the girls, coaches, and fans !!! What a great experience for the 16 teams. I sincerely hope that we continue to get new teams to this tournament so that more and more kids can experience the thrill of playing at the X, and spending a few days in St Pa...

CougarPride, Appreciate your comments, and nice example of good sportsmanship. BTW, I recall a few years ago Centennial knocking STW out of the Sections on their home ice !! Also, Centennial's players and coaches should be proud of a great season. They will be back very strong again next season, wit...

UWhockey88 & PondHock07, I assume that both of you are kids, at least I hope so anyway. Your posts show a great deal of immaturity. One of the most important lessons to be learned from sports, is how to lose with dignity and class. A person/team's true colors come out when having to deal with a ...

Sadly, I think ghs is right, they would simply find a way around the rule, like renting an apartment. At which point I say one of 2 things need to happen......... (1) include a clause in the new O/E that somehow requires the city of residence to be considered where the families main residence exists...

Good question....... IMO - a large % of the kids 9th grade and older would not have transferred via O/E to another public, perhaps they would have considered privates more ????? The new rule, if enacted with the 1 yr waiting like wisconsins law, may push more high level NDP players to privates. Cert...

XK1, Got it... interesting concept to say the least. The "only 1 O/E per team" concept has been thrown around before on this board. Just for some laughs............. Can you imagine if that were the rule, and little Susie from town A (Susie is a 4th line varsity player) wants to O/E into t...

hockeygod, With all due respect, I believe you are oversimplifying the issue. You cannot reasonably compare an adult who works for a corporation "at will", with some kids playing HS sports. It's a stretch at best. The girls do have rights - the right to a free education thanks to the taxpa...

I am baised on the subject as well I guess. My HS team went to the Section Finals each yr, only to lose to the same private powerhouse. Never got to play in a State Tourney, but we sure had fun taking a run at the mighty private squad !!!

keepitreal, Very well said. The "parent problem" seems to be a theme of late on this board - parents living vicariously thru their kids - it's kind of disgusting when you think about it. What is our hope for these young ladies - they go D1, and then what ??? There is no WNHL, and even if t...

XK1, True enough - all of our opinions are somewhat tainted by the situaton we find ourselves in. I just thought it was kind of neat to see those interviews. As you can tell in my posts, I am one of the people that opposes the current O/E, and believe that it needs to have some sort of control/restr...

Hey xk1, Did you watch FSN coverage on Saturday's hockey day in MN ??? Great News - this means O/E is working well for those students it was intended to work for. It also means that a simple 1 yr. waiting period on athletics will only affect a very few. Good news for all.

T-Bird, Good points all around. However, just because the statute allows O/E for reasons other than academics, doesn't necessarily mean it should be allowed for athletics only. I can think of plenty of reasons why the statute listed "other reasons" - for instance, a student may be the obje...

Sadly, I am not surprised at all. For the past 2-3 years, I have voiced my concerns over the negative ramifications regarding our current O/E situation. I assure you that the authors of the School Choice statute did not intend for it to be used for these purposes. EP may win another State Championsh...

[ghs wrote] Let's get to the root of the concern here! And, really, truly, is this the route that we want to go? Seeking out complex rules to punish kids that want to play the highest level hockey they can (while getting a good education) & programs that have worked hard to build up to the level...
