Sarsland
I don't see ER often, so this may sound dumb, but does Sarsland get a lot of bench minors? When I have seen them it looks like he's always "givin' it" to his players, but not the refs... enlightenment please!

Bench Minor
Yeah, player C's time doesn't start until player A's out of the box.

On another note, I'd like to discuss penalties assessed to a coach. I think the league should do away with the bench minor penalities assessed when a coach steps out of line... I don't agree with the team being penalized bec...

Other sports
If your kid plays multiple sports, you may want to consider the smaller private schools around where kids are encouraged to play 2 or 3 sports. Blake, Breck, Totino Grace, Minnehaha, St. Paul Academy, St. Thomas Academy, Benilde St. Margarets, Providence, Holy Family Catholic, (St. Agnes, St. Bernar...

Criteria
I would say that being able to break out the puck, limiting shots taken within the greater "slot" area and not allowing rebound goals is the best indicator of a great defensive team. It's more of a brains and technique thing than skill and strength, although if you can put all of those together... w...

it's a good thing, but I'm going to need a new excuse... the spareless old lady's flat tire at lunch time just won't cut it... maybe honesty will prevail this year!

Example...
Yeah, bad example with Sibley, although I think they have gotten most of the A kids from WSP in recent history... of course their B teams may have been better than the A's. You got what I was trying to say though. A lot of these kids wouldn't be playing high school hockey if it were not for the priv...

StA JV
Mathrunner,

Do you know how many of StA's JVers played bantam B in West St. Paul or elsewhere last year? I'd be willing to bet that most of those kids were not "A" players and were probably slated to be cut from Henry Sibley, but now have the opportunity to play on a very good high school tea...

Numbers...
There's also the question of numbers. Say your bantam program has four teams... A, B1, B2, and C. Even if each team has 15 kids... 3 lines, 4 D, and 2 goalies (hypothetical situation here), that puts 60 hockey players in grades 10 and 11 as these kids advance into high school. You can suit up 20 kid...

Situations...
I have seen refs use discretion on this call if they don't think it's a dangerous play. They will call what used to be a minor for checking from behind a minor for boarding or roughing so they don't have to sit a kid down for ten. I would have to say that every 2&10 I've seen handed out in the last ...

Minnehaha
I have not been there for years, but I'm not a big fan of Minnehaha, except that the wooden "D" shape is very nice. Aside from that it's cold, the boards are too high (tough for us short guys to get on the bench, and a long ways down when getting off the bench... many taint injuries), and the ugly Z...

Well said I35. The games are representing the whole state (North, South, East, West, Public Private, A, AA). I'm not going to complain one bit.

see? I don't know what I'm talking about! Greenway isn't even on mapquest! Thanks for the info elliott. So Greenway is the school (probably named after a guy), Coleraine is a community, and Bovey is the town? So do most of the kids at the school come from Bovey?

Greenway
I've always liked Greenway for some reason. I've never been there, and have never seen them play except for in the State Tournament, but I always pulled for them. It just seemed like they were always a throwback to another time... small, old farm town where the only thing to do besides milk cows is ...

Clear Boards
The clear boards and cool looking ceiling were definitely the best features in the Civic Center. Sight lines were bad down low, but with the clear boards it wasn't so bad. After the Moose came in and put in different boards the class of this arena was gone, and it was exposed for what it was... a du...
