Re: Week 5 Games

Those out state games are between teams that are well outside the top end of AA. Statements like that are why this forum is dead. Go ahead dismiss half the state. Just because the rosters aren't loaded with future D1 players, doesn't mean that the game(s) won't be competitive or remotely entertaini...

Re: OS Bridge season

Benilde beat Gentry Saturday night at Tria, 3-2. Ugly hockey game for the most part. 19 total penalties, 41 penalty minutes and the teams combined to go 0-for-15 on the powerplay, including BSM not scoring on 2-man advantage for 1:46 in the first period and Gentry not scoring during a 5-minute majo...

Re: In between season

The arrowhead area teams are doing their own "in-between" season. It's a big ask to have a bunch of girls go down to the metro for another month of hockey, considering a lot of kids did it for the elite league, premier prep, dynamo, etc. for the last month.

Re: covid and MH

I was at the NIT tournament all weekend at Vadnais Heights, so I can only speak of the protocols in place there. There were teams from all over coming in, which has been stated previously. However, there was the most stringent and enforced COVID protocols I have seen all summer or fall in place. Str...

It's a "go" as of now. Season starts in mid-September. No team schedules have been posted as of yet.

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

This thread is long, and I may have missed it; but has there been any discussion about how the actual players may feel about a season being played or cancelled? There are a lot of issues at play: potential infection, missing out on exposure to higher levels of hockey, just want to get back to normal...

What’s the status of the search for a new coach for Hibbing?
The coach hasn't been announced, but he is a great fit and has deep roots in the boys and girls programs in Hibbing. It will be great to have someone that will have a program wide approach finally.

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

I've stayed out of this, but I thought it is worth pointing out that rinks may not be opening up in some areas any time soon. Our rink is now set up for overflow from the hospital if the need arises. That means there is absolutely no hockey here until the pandemic passes. I'm sure we aren't the only...

Obviously, you saw a lot of high level players on the ice, so it looked well played; but I wonder how much the women's game has gotten better or worse over the last ten years?

My child is a 2021 grad, and has had a similar experience as Massala, with a few exceptions. She tore her knee up during her freshman season and couldn't participate in the HP 15s, which put her behind a bit; but she has picked up steam since. She has participated in the elite league and it is a gre...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

The east range schools are the definition of what class A hockey is supposed to be about. They are comprised of smaller schools, who put together an once-in-a-decade team that has the chance to make a good run to state at the class A level. GR is exactly where they are supposed to be. They can make ...

Nothing special about this...good for them...New Ulm used sales tax money to build their rink....the only thing is that the special sales tax assessment is still being collected even after receipts had surpassed the amount needed for rink...city now puts those receipts into general fund so they can...

Okay let's look at Hibbing: Influencing Factors (in no particular order): 1. Community Population From 1990 or so to now the population has dropped from 18000 to 16000 (roughly) School population has dropped maybe a bit more. 2. Community Financial Resources The iron range has suffered but there ar...

They've had nothing but one goal differential games for the last few years, and I don't see why that won't continue on Thursday. My prediction is a 2-1 Cloquet win, decided in the last few minutes of the third period.

Of course they have a chance, but it is reaaallly small. In all seriousness, they do have a legitimate shot if they play a very tight checking game. It's early in the season and Hermantown won't be as sharp in their system (new coach, new systems?) and puck movement won't be as crisp as it wi...

Top Tier: Hermantown - The girls program is at the point now where they can just reload year after year. It's going to take an off game during sections for them to be unseated. Second Tier: Duluth Marshall - Lost a lot of seniors, so it will be interesting to see who steps up to fill their shoes. Sc...

It's a little disappointing that U16 North didn't get a chance to play for the championship. They went 1-1-1 against black and tied gray in the one opportunity they got to play against them. They only had one other loss for the season...

FWIW, they beat SSM yesterday as well.
