That's a pretty good list. I might sub in Jackson Cates for Jette Cates was the last guy I left off, and I did so because he's being outscored by his younger brother. Jette has a decent chance of being drafted, which seems to be a pretty large factor. Jette has potential, but really hasn't earned h...

So is Apple Valley in wrestling. Parents of means can put their wrestler in Apple Valley, Hockey Player in Edina or Basketball player in Hopkins, but at least they compete in the highest class, not like Lourdes in Hockey or Saint Thomas in Swimming, and the others who get the top athletes from the ...

Not tracking Summer on what 'wrong' this legislator is trying to fix. I'd argue the MSHSL is funded by the season ticketholders for the AA boys hockey tournament which generates enough money to offset the shortfall in all other HS sports combined in the state. Maybe your in favor of having this pol...

For those debating the origin of this game devolving into a joke, it lies squarely on LN. Coming into the third period, LN had 4+ minutes left on the 5 minute penalty Tyler Nanne took at the end of the second. LN did absolutely nothing on this power play and I saw a distinct change in attitude at t...

Yet another situation where politics doesn't belong in hockey only this one being literally at the expense of taxpayers. Red or blue political slants set aside this guy is clueless. At least an individual kid isn't getting the shaft. #-o Oh please! The MSHSL is supported by all of us taxpayers, and...

Re: Coaching Openings for 2014-15 List

Here is what I'm aware of for new coaches/openings for 2014-15. Feel free to add on: 1) Henry Sibley - Corey Hessler 2) Coon Rapids 3) Simley 4) North St. Paul 5) East Ridge 6) Delano 7) Waconia 8) Northfield 9) Brainerd 10) East Ridge 11) Sauk Rapids Sad that 30-40% turnover in past 5-6 years Add ...

Wondering why a team like Farmington gets no sniff in even top 20? Good record. Maybe because they didn't play everyone in they're section like LN AND LS? Farmington plays more teams in the section than the Lakevilles, but those teams don't really matter like the Missota conference teams they play,...

Re: STA

The time may have come for a metro private school conference. Totino-Grace, Benilde-SM, Holy Angels and now STA are homeless. Add Hill-Murray, Cretin-DH, Holy Family, DeLaSalle and Breck and it would be a pretty good 9 team conference. 8 for hockey. Blake and Providence Academy could make it 10. It...

Re: Live from the Press Box...

I'm in the press box for the Tourney again this year, and will be posting updates to this thread on such things as press conferences, all-tournament teams, and random observations (some insightful, some less so). I'll try to answer any questions you might have, too. Observation #1: Is Breck aware t...

I think the people at North should be worrying about losing coach Eigner. His ability to take a sub. 500. team through a very tough section all the way to the tournament I have to believe teams in the WCHA will be knocking his doors down looking to hire him. It is not that uncommon for high profile...

Personally I would like to see the sections re-aligned vertically instead of horizontally, get more of a true mixture of teams, an equal amount committed to hockey to those who are not in each section.

IMHO.......The reason they leave 1AA alone is because they hope that it will help build hockey interest in the communities with less thriving teams. If rochester kids continuously see STA for example go to state from their section and their beloved high school team never get anywhere, why the heck ...

This kid is going into the Marines? Good luck with that! Our Senators and congresspeople should stop the Marines or any other branch of service from accepting him, imagine if he had a gun instead of a finger.

This all sounds like a program I know, but the sad thing is all the kids are not that talented (some parents think they are), all the dirty dealing really for nothing! No tournament, no D1, only hard feelings and needlessly ruined high school careers.

Conflict of Interest?

Is it a conflict of interest if a boys high school coach is coaching sons of coaches coaching his daughter in youth hockey? There is one boy getting the most ice time with very little points to show for it, and his father is a coach for the high school coach's daughter, detirmining her ice time. The...
