Full Ice Checking
I believe full ice checking was implemented at the begining of the 69-70 season. A good portion of players used an external mouth guard. that attached to their helmet straps, I guess concussions were not an issue.

Moorehead / WBL
Moorehead may be loosing a ton of seniors but, if I'm not mistaken only one player from their "A" Bantam state Championship team 03/04, Christian, made the varsity team this season. Their JV team lost one game all season. I wouldn't write them off for next year.

WBL has two returni...

Re: Mr. Fanson or Mr. Technology
I misspoke on one of my points. The human element in fact will come into play, IE, the athletic directors advisory committee approval and the ultimate decision to approve/disapprove realignments will be up to the full board. I am sure they will have the ability at that time to determine the flaws of...

Mr. Fanson or Mr. Technology
I am glad that now the high school league is compensating an "IT" department that has the ability to determine geographical contiguity and ascertain numeric balance. I will make a real bold statement here stating that a few guys sitting around the local saloon drinking a beer and smoking c...

Cory Johnson
I'm from the cities and have only been able to watch this kid play about 7 -10 games over the last two years. He alone is worth the price of admission. They can talk all they want about the 6' studs that are going to go D1. I love watching the smaller, speedy, skill guys like him, Vermeullen from Ce...

Elite League
I do think the Elite League has fulfilled a roll in keeping our high school players at home. I would look upon this league as the same as high level AAA hockey for older players. The functional difference is that the coaching and officiating have greater capabilities and control. Older boys AAA game...

Best Team in State
After watching most of the top rated teams in the state play throughout the season, I continue to believe that Moorehead is the most talented top to bottom. The wonderful thing about this game is anything can and usually does happen at the state tournament. I think most would agree that during the t...

St. Paul PP Coverage
I would assume that most hockey people, at least in the metro area were very disappointed this morning. The high school hockey tournament is one of the premier sporting events held in this state every year. It's attendance rivals no other. It brings in tons of revenue to the local St. Paul economy a...

I see a couple of options in my scenario of pitting "A" vs "AA" teams against each other in the first round of the state tournament.
1. Simply base it on enrollment.

2. If an "A" school opts up to the "AA" level they will have to qualify through &quo...

I like the basic concept of combining the two classes into one eventual state champion. You could have a 16 team tournament. In the first round you would place a class "A" team against a class "AA" team and go from there. I don't believe you would add anymore games to the existin...

I was being sarcastic in commending Rochester for their ability to field an "A" team.
They actually field two "A" teams. North and South. It is interesting though that the North team is allways very strong and the South is middle of the pack at all age levels.
Has anyone ...

I am only communicating the info I was told. It is unfortunate when something like that happens regardless of whom the call favors. It takes away from both teams and the game. It's not like Cent and WB need anything else to bolster the rivalry. I will venture to guess the two hockey communities will...
