My son started playing goalie as a mite but rotated. 1st year squirts he "designated" goalie but still played out quite a bit. He played 4 years at Varsity, won a state title and is now playing Jr's. To this day when he plays pond hockey or pick up games he gives the pads to a buddy and he...

Pretty simple. Hire outside evaluators. Give the players random tryout numbers no names. After tryouts give the evaluations to the players/parents so they can see what the evaluators saw and help their child work on the things that need improving. There is always something that can use improvement n...

Section 6 will be much more even this year than in years past. Wayzata has 1 stong line and no proven goalie, BSM has a couple good players but no goalie, EP has some solid players and OK goalies, Tonka same as Wayzata, Holy Family Ok players good goalie. I think section 6 is up for grabs this year.

Hopkins

Royals dad. Wish the best for the new coach he is a great guy and good coach. My son played for him years ago. The problem with Hopkins in not the coaches or even the talent level of the kids it is the parents of the players. They really need to just step back. At the varsity level at any sport it i...

He will be fine. Trust me they all make mistakes. Better he makes them now than when he is playing at the next level, like many of them do and then they never get another chance. He will play on I guarentee it. He is NOT the 1st that this has happened to. He is a very talented goalie just needs to m...

True they are scouted to receive a invite to try out. 1 or 2 scouts see them during the season and think they are good, they invite them to try out. Then at tryouts they are evaluated against the others that were chosen for the same reasons. It is important to play your best every time you take the ...

I heard that one of the Blake kids parents divorced and his mother moved to St Louis Park. Not sure on the other but I do know they are both following the rules so neither will have to sit. Pauly will follow the rules MSHL requires, unlike some other schools that have accepted transfers and the fami...

So your saying they should NOT take the best players because they come from the same school. Now that is wrong. The league is suppose to showcase the most talented players regardless of what school they play the regular season with. It looks to me like overall they did that. Are there some that got ...

Returners are Dingman, Quale, Thompson, Parker. Perry was Elite D pulled up but only played a few games so not sure how that works. Don't see him on the list so maybe he is a automatic.

Then how is it such a great money maker. It appears to me it is just a form of generating revenue to cover expenses not line anyones pockets.

Skipperj why the sour grapes? BSM outplayed Tonka plain and simple. True next year is a new year and anything is possible. Maybe Tonka will win it in 2013. Who knows. These are all good teams. FYI Tonka does there fair share of recruiting and anyone that thinks they don't has blinders on.

Rainbow teams/affiliate agreements

Looks to me like some of the associations with dwindling numbers should consider rainbowing more teams or better yet combine the associations as to make the teams more competitive. An obvious choice would be Hopkins and St Louis Park. Both of those associations have small numbers and have been rainb...

Kids move from public school to public school for the same reason. At least moving to a private school they are trying to get a better education. Moving from 1 top rated public school to another top rated public school is solely for the sports. As far as Blake vs BSM. Blake's tuition is double BSM a...

Agreed - Andover can't handle the pressure; Elk River lacks experience between the pipes and obviously coaching will be a huge factor. Perry is good but needs more experience. He is not strong enough to carry the team. Tonka, Hill Murray and Benilde will be the teams to watch. All have returning tal...

Have tried many the best we have found are Dave Rogalski at Impact and Goalcrease. Goalcrease is nice on the small ice but to truly get the individual attention and work on individual skills Rogy is the guy.
