So Lee- does this mean I'm not a Randolph basher?....or was it wishful thinking on your part that I was?

A few scattered thoughts. -History question that largely predates me: how much credit does Randolph deserve for building up the East youth program? Isn't he in large part responsible for taking command of it and setting it up as a feeder program for the high school? Of course, this does not necessa...

Re: the hounds in '11-'12

Well, now that we've all met and played nice-nice, let's get back to task: "How will East be in 2012? Saw them at Eagan this summer, they played well and the Randolph - Tonanato - whoever else line was on the ice alot and looked really good. I can see them putting up 150+ points on the year. B...

Re: Thoughts on Duluth East?

Sour grapes, eh? Considering who you are, I mean... Lee I thought it might take a little longer for you to throw your cheap comment out there. Sour, you bet. And what about? Let's try Randolph breaking some rules by telling my kid not to come try out in October (the longest conversation he's had wi...

You always know hockey season is finally coming up when we have a good 7AA preview thread. :D On paper, this section is East's once again, as much as some of our number love to hate them. This year's East team should be stronger than last year's, and though they took a couple of lumps last y...

I didn't forget that- while the cost is certainly a factor, many kids who attend Marshall come from families who can't afford it. Many families, athletes and non-athletes, get assistance. I agree that the DE schedule and being a Hound will trump Marshall in most cases. My point is simply that I thin...

Here is yet another opportunity we can't resist, to structure and organize something for the kids. How about letting them do their thing, get to know each other, and have some fun while they prepare for a long season. Left alone, I think they do just fine. If your Captains can't run a Captains pract...

I think this is really quite simple. The "A" vs. "AA" argument works quite nicely as a convenient excuse for DE, but in reality I believe it is all about not doing anything that might help strengthen Marshall's hockey program, and position them to better compete for upcoming play...

You could have 4 private champs, and 4 public champs, and have "co-champions" one year just to keep it fair. That way, almost everyone's a winner!!

How about sharing a little of this Housley-love with Darby? The only thing positive I can say about him is that finally somebody wrestled him down and gave him a haircut you can actually look at. I would say he is definately in that Housley-Woog-Gorg category. I think Nanne has improved and spread t...

[quote:Duluths "Allstar" teams are playing with a goalie from proctor and central? Interesting] Haven't seen either of them play, so I'm not sure. I would guess they both are "experienced" i.e. they saw a lot of rubber this year. Maybe they got the nod so all Duluth area schools ...

The breezers will not go to black- at least with the current coaching regime. There is some significance- DE teams in youth hockey wear black, and the first time you get to wear the red breezers is at High School. I think its a great look, and I enjoy seeing some of the throwback looks mixed in with...

I'm curious: is Apple Valley good enough to be in the State Tournament now? or do they need to win another game to deserve it? Maybe its just me, but I think that game was more fun to watch than if EP or Wayzata had played Blaine and won. Its what the tournament is all about, and its why 70,000+ peo...

Good game by the Hounds- I was a little disappointed by ER. But, as I have said all along, outside DE I think this section was fairly weak this year despite all the noise to the contrary.

Also banned at Duluth East. Any goalie affected by the sieve chant, left hockey long before he got to high school. And we can't read the paper while you're team is being introduced either. I am waiting for our AD to require students wear equal colors for both schools competing, and requiring one che...

DE has certainly had one of the top programs in the state over the past couple decades, but I would stop short of saying that section 7AA has been a tough section to get out of over the same period. While there have certainly been some strong teams and a couple years with several top teams in this s...

Curtiscurve: You are right on. Not sure I would agree that the Tournament is "dominated" by metro teams. Over the last 10 years, 8 of 20 teams that played in the Championship game were outstate teams. Considering that there are 3 (at most) outstate teams participating every year, with 5 fr...

DE by 3 minimum. Home ice. Plus- the better, deeper team will prevail. Forget the ER win a month ago, I'm afraid they will need stellar goaltending to stay in this one. ERs kid between the pipes is capable though. This is not a strong section this year, and despite all the hype- there are really onl...
