Re: The Rise of the North in Coming Years?

Youth hockey success in a single year may not be a great indicator of high school success. I watched the Peewee AA and A state tournaments are in Shakopee this weekend. Even on the best teams it’s likely half or fewer of the players will make the varsity team in the future. High School success is mo...

Edina was rewarded for a dirty hit by one of their players. Refs try their best but blew this one.

No surprise here. System crashes when WBL beats HM to go to state.

Nice start for the new coaching staff. No surprise once the old regime finally removed itself.
WBL beats HM. HA HA that’s a good one. I suppose next your going tell me the sun rises in the west.

As FDR said when he addressed a group of wealthy industrialists, "I welcome your hate." It makes the wins so much sweeter.
FDR was a communist.
He also said The only thing we have to fear is the fear of an All-Metro State Tourney.

Nice shallow-angle goal from the left corner goal line by Shakopee's Simpson. Pete Waggoner described it as a "g...

Re: Section Tournament Ticketing Systems

I was just able to buy BSM-Edina and Shakopee-Chan through Vanco. I got there through the Minnetonka High School ticket link. Wayzata High website says Wayzata-AHA tickets will be released at 3:00PM today.

I like the old ticketing system where you used cash.
I agree. I used to pick up tickets the day before and catch two games at Braemar and 1 at BIG or vice versa. I have a feeling I will be shut out this year and the same for the finals. I wish they would move the finals back to Mariucci.

I noticed Shakopee v PL is sold out tonight. If it ends up Shakopee v Chan on Saturday I don't think tickets would even get to the public Vanco site. There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm in the Shakopee fan base.

2nd upset of the night in 8AA -

Buffalo - 2
Sartell - 0

Buffalo (6 seed) will host St. Cloud (7 seed) in an 8AA Semifinal
Classic. 8) Might not make for a good final though. :-&

Does anyone know what ticketing systems are being used for the various Section Tournaments? I'm particularly interested in the Section Semis.

But the thing to keep in mind is that this Tonka team is on par with the Jefferson 90's dynasty. In a few weeks, we will likely reflect on the season and say, "Yep, it was Tonka all along. I knew it." Except for when Tonka loses to Chan in the section final Jefferson had 5 players from that group t...

How bout those Eagles? Still a ways to go, but they’ve surpassed my expectations of them already and am prepared to eat crow. Their goaltending and defense has been stellar, which has been the difference this year IMO.

Who else out there is beating expectations at this point?
Shakopee.

Big win for the Pioneers tonight, 5-2 over St Thomas. This was an important game for Hill to stop the bleeding, and is their best win of the season. I was wondering how they would bounce back from the loss to Two Rivers, and at least for one game they answered the call. We'll see if they can string...

After 1, Shakopee 1-0 over Rosemount. SOG 9-6 Rosemount. Good, tight, disciplined game. 2-0 Shakopee over Rosemount final. SOG Rosemount 48-23 but couldn't get past a goalie the size of Paul Bunyan. Wayzata has plenty of talent but their lack of creativity on offense and their propensity to ice the puck may come back to haunt them. On offense they consistently pass into pressure instead of taking advantage of open ice and make high risk no reward passes.
