If I remember correctly, in 95 Hutch was ranked #1 going into tourney and had beaten Red Wing in the regular season. Red Wing upset them in the first game and Hutch had to settle for the consolation championship.

My mistake, but I think we both are referring to St. Louis Park, who Chaska beat.

Willmar will not be denied in 2013/2014. Loaded with seniors. Solid tender in Goosemann. Eventual section 3A champion.

What cracks me up is some Luverne fans actually thought they would be competitive at state.

A case can be made for any one of the four remaining teams to win this section. That's why this section is one of the best in Minnesota. Not cause we have the best teams, but because it's always competitive. It's what makes this thread the best on this site at least until section play is over. Those...

Luverne won't be the only team missing players.
Hutch had five starters out last night at Holy Family.

Injuries are part of the game and shouldn't be a factor.

Five of the six teams that beat New Ulm are private schools. To me, that is the problem here. How about a state division that only includes town team hockey?

Luverne

Looks like Luverne is playing both Hutch and LDC this year.
That will be a step up for them.

Congrats to the New Ulm Eagles for another trip to the X. You have a great hockey tradition in the works. Luverne is at best the third, maybe fourth best team in this section this year. I would have thought a more lopsided victory, but cudos to Luverne for keeping it close. You will be a factor in t...

Section 3A HockeyScout...thanks for all the insight this season. Really enjoyed your posts. Looked forward to it each Monday. Also..great job New Ulm. One correction on Hutch. Jake McLain will be graduating this year. Hutch will loose 3 of 4 defensmen. Top two forward lines will have 5 of 6 returnin...

Marshall 1 - Hutch 4 I liked how Hutch played in this game. Looks like they have some new skilled players that will help them this year. Shots on goal were about even. Hutch may be better then predicted. Johnson played solid in the net and defense shut Marshall down at times. Three power play goals ...

I heard from a very reliable source that Redwoods best defencemen quit the team towards the end of the season due to some family issues. They also were dealing with a couple injured kids and trying to limp along with them to the end. The coach also moved some kids around from defence to forward and ...

Nice win Dragons.

It was a full house at Burich Arena. The Finnish flag was a wavin. Close game. Difference was the power play for LDC. They got it done.

The rivalry continues....

Good luck against New Ulm!!!

I think this thread has lost some of it's passion know that Redwood and Marshall are done.

Good analysis SW, but I think Hutchinson will prevail with some good goal tending and look for Luverne to give New Ulm a closer game then expected.

NU 5, Luverne 2.

#4 LDC vs. #1 Hutchinson - 3/2

Hutchinson beat LDC 4 -1 back in December. LDC has improved all year long. They have some very impressive wins along the way. Adams can dominate at times. Some inconsistent goalie play from Johnson. Hutchinson has struggled to score during stretches this season. Lines have changed several times. Swe...

I was at the Hutch game on Thursday. SE scored a goal in the second period and Hutch scored a goal in the second, so they can claim they played even with them for one period. The kids worked hard and I liked their goalie. Hutch did not let up at anytime during the game, but did rotate all three line...

Hutchinson 8, Sleepy Eye 1 SOG - Hutch 58, SE 6 SE had two good scoring chanes and did get one in. Goalie form SE played very well. Too bad he was out most of the season. SE could have won some more games. Nice run anyway. LDC at Hutch next Tuesday. That should be the game to watch in 3A that night.

Holy Family Catholic kicked LDC 6 - 0. This match-up was closer earlier this season. What happened??? Could LDC be struggling?

Final
Hutchinson 1, AHA 12

Hutch down 0 - 5 after 2 periods. AHA used all 4 lines. Hutch ran out of gas.
