How does USHL play stack up against WHL? I realize these leagues wont schedule against each other but isn't really just a lateral move? Umm...not quite lateral here IMO. Take a look at Central Scouting - the WHL better prepares kids for ECHL/AHL and even NHL. School is the ideal route but it is not...

Re: Do you respect the Class "A" champion?

Absolutely the Class 'A' champion is a real state champ...but... All private schools should be 'AA' (or have their own championship like Shattuck)...and then this discussion never happens again. Small towns like Roseau want the big crown so all the power to them...its up to them to go up. Can't opt ...

Hmmn...0-0 after 1. Going much better than I thought for our Cards. This is how they made it there...grind it out defensively and hopefully get a bounce or two.

Shots are lopsided but most of the shots were from outside so far.

Hopefully they can keep it interesting!!

OK...I realize our Cardinals are not the strongest team in the tourney...but to leave them off of the voting poll is a little much! If New Ulm can be on there then Alex can too - right?

BTW - I think MNHockey75 is pretty close in his assessment...scores too.

Let the games begin!

A team with a losing record representing 6a. Probably doesn't happen very often. Good luck Alex! They may have a losing record but they are 3-0 in the playoffs and thats really all that matters right??!! No way would I have bet on our Cards making it to the X this year again but here they go. All y...

Wow...a disappointing end to an overall outstanding season. He didn't get the Minnesota scoring title, but he did lead in goals and I believe he set a West goal scoring record. I see that he got no points against Red Wing last night. Did they shut him down or was he part of all of those disallowed g...

Still sounds like he is doing well - just not off the charts like the first dozen games. So how long before Jutting signs him up for the Mavs? USHL? NAHL?

Scarlets lose 3-2, last goal scored by Rantanen was with about 5 seconds left with the empty net.. Scarlet...so it was 3-1 Lourdes and they pulled their goalie allowing West to score on an empty net? That's a new one on me. I was looking for stats on this game but nothing is posted yet...anyone hav...

Hey Gopher, when the kid is scoring 4,5 and 6 goals a game then 1 goal and 4 assists just doesn't impress me much...if you know what I mean! lol I was actually hoping to see him shatter the goal scoring record and now he is getting as many or more assists as goals. I like goal scorers, you just can'...

Well, he certainly has toned it down a bit lately. He still figures in on most of the Scarlets goals but haven't seen even a hat trick out of him lately.
Are teams figuring him out a bit? I wouldn't call it a slump, but I was looking for at least 3 goals against Le Sueur.

Little Falls 3-2 over Alex in OT. LF scored with 20 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and then scored with 24 seconds left in OT to win. LF had much better forwards than Alex. Alex D (a couple of them) were pretty good and their goalie was solid - except for the tying goal imo. Kind of a sl...

I have not seen many teams but Alexandria sure is different this year. Not as talented as other years but they sure threw the body around and hustled pretty well. The threw more body checks in the one game I saw than the last 2 years combined! lol

You can teach a kid (most anyway) to play defense...its a whole lot tougher to teach them to put the 'biscuit in the basket' like this kid seems to be doing. Faribault should be a much better test but I bet he gets at least two.

Ville Rantanen - Mankato West

Seems to be lighting the lamp early on big time. Is he a big kid? Is he gonna keep it up?
I don't care what section or quality of play...I think he has 9 of their 14 goals or something...that ain't bad.

I had that happen too in a parking ramp. I think it may be limestone from the concrete.

I left mine (old car!) and when things heated up in the summer with the sun shining on it, it baked completely off.

Exactly. Its for the players. Why should Lakeville North be denied an opportunity to stay alive just because Metro backers want it that way? State is state, and everyone should be on equal footing. You have two top teams going at it in the first round? Big deal, sack up and win then. True...they al...

I'm all for the top teams getting the better draw but...seeding is not an exact science and someone always gets 'screwed'. I'm not debating who should have been 1 or 5 because that is exactly what it is...a subjective debate. Some of the best games have come in round 1 or the consolation final as mu...

MAHTOMEDI WERE CHEATED! In the last second of the third, the kid from Mahtomedi clearly got the shot off before time elapsed and the horn sounded. It should have been a goal! I don't understand why when they reviewed it, they kept looking at whether the puck crossed the goal line before time ended....
