Eliminating B state opportunities is a bad idea. For example, There is a huge difference between 12UA hockey and 12UB hockey. In fact, if you watched many games in both A & B, you would realize every team in B is a B team...including those teams in the U12B state tournament. They are just good B...

EPDAD, That's exactly my point. Hope you realize my comment was not negative about your team or association. I've seen your team - nice team, well coached...good sportsmanship! As you say, if you had the talent to compete - top to bottom - you would strive to have 2 A teams. Likewise, if a U12B team...

Saying teams are choosing to play B JUST so they can get to state is purely speculation on your part and I suggest try giving some of these associations a little credit on making hard decisions surrounding difficult circumstances. Pequot is in the upper bracket with Tartan. You should be giving credit to Champlain Park instead. Nice team....great goal tending.

Teams that choose U12B play vs. A Play

Many great points on the subject. It's a tough subject....but Let's not forget that many of the stronger U12B teams only have 10 - 15 kids playing hockey at the 12 level....total. Tartan, Red Wing, St. Francis, Chisago are examples. I have watched all these teams play and they have some A kids, some...
