The speed of the game at peewees will make it very tough on goalies and defense with out checking. It is part of developing well rounded players. If a kid quits because of checking at bantams it will be very tough for them to pick up another sport for high school as well

Having had a kid in the choice league for a couple years, it really, really depends on who your coach (es) is (are). I do like the idea behind it, limited number of drills to prevent subpar free-lance coaching, the longer ice time, etc. One thing I didn't like was, at least at the mite and squirt l...

I have spent a ton of time at MM over the last couple of years and I've seen all sorts of Machine and Fire teams practice. The practices that I saw were run efficiently and at a very high level. The kids I see running around down there are all smiling and sweaty. The parents (easy to pick em out be...

I stopped into see the tryouts. The information give about Machine players was not accurate. There where two former Torspo players that tryout, but no current Machine players are skating. Sounds like after getting calls from machine parents/coaches they choose not to. It's too bad. I'm glad you too...

Relax folks. This is just another tournament for 9-10 year olds. Why this tournament is supposed to be better than any other out there is a mystery. At the end of the day you still have a bunch of 9-10 year olds out there trying to take it coast to coast far more often than they pass. Kudos to the ...

HD 41, That is probably the single most accurate, articulate post I have ever read on this board. Well said. It seems to me that we build these events up way too big for the kids at this age. I would suspect the associations went through a hiring process. If these associations were able to get non parents that are motivated enough to coach squirts that's great. Are these teams in your district or what is your motivation to do "leg work" to check on other associations? If you ha...
