Re: NAHL-Early Tenders- MN Players
GB - this may have been answered in another thread, but I can't find it. Do you know how many NAHL games a kid can play to start the season and still be eligible for the HS season? Also, do you know if someone can play a full NAHL season, and then go back to MSHSL the following year?

Re: Watch NTDP vs Elite League this weekend
So the next Gretzky. :P 17 total goals. 5 goals 0 assists. Definitely not Gretzky-like. Now, if it was 5 goals and 12 assists, then maybe.... I wasn't looking at the stat line so much (lack of assists) as the ability to gobble up pucks near the net as well as avoiding being hit/giving a hit. I unde...

Re: Watch NTDP vs Elite League this weekend
Chaz ended up with 5 and JJ 3 Final 17–5 as Team NE with a tough day for D and Gs Lucius with 5, and not a single one from outside of 10 feet. 4 of 5 within 3 feet. Stands next to the net and shovels in rebounds (which is certainly a skill all its own). Expends very little energy; rarely gives a hi...

17 total goals. 5 goals 0 assists. Definitely not Gretzky-like. Now, if it was 5 goals and 12 assists, then maybe.... He moves the puck, so nobody should take the wrong impression from this number. Mainly he is a goal scorer. Plain and simple. He scores. A lot. Zero assists on the season thus far. ...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
Been said by multiple high school coaches that often goalies have a bit of an adjustment period after playing in HSEL once season starts. Their game can struggle early in HS season because of it. That strikes me as counter intuitive--help me understand. Are you saying that because EL goalies are se...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
Looking at the stats, and based on the number of shots being given up, the stars in these games appear to be the goalies. 35+ shots allowed is not unusual. Is anyone playing defense, are the shot totals accurate, or is it just a free-for-all attempt to put up points? I'd love to see the plus/minus s...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
I don't understand the NTDP comment? Did they play against HSEL? If so, who played for team HSEL, and what was the score? Is the info available anywhere? Thanks! It's this coming weekend...the NTDP U17 team is in town, they do this every year. The NTDP games this weekend are on Saturday and Sunday ...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
Several shots at Blue Army. How is their participation different from Norway in years past? I think I saw a Norway box score this year versus a Fall 18U team in the Minnesota Hockey league. More appropriate competition for them perhaps. Teams guest play in the league. I can see being against guest ...

Re: 218 - Minnesota Wilderness U18 goes 4-0
The Minnesota Wilderness U18 team goes 4-0 in the NAPHL Showcase in Blaine, MN. http://naphl.com/game-center/#/schedule/1399/193/9/homeaway?league=5&gametype=-1 Kniven will be happy with his 4 Cloquet boys. =D> And the four teams they beat had a combined win/loss record of 1-15, so Knivesy shouldn'...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey
For every TJ Oshie there are 1,000 plus families out there where things don't work out. The bottom line is like or not, HS hockey is no longer a community sport . It's now a group of all star teams. AAA hockey has had a lot to do with this as friendships are made during the spring and these ideas g...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey
It is a bad thing because of the tension it creates in the community. No player moves in to a particular community to play hockey unless they have been promised something by the coaches. The parents in the community know this and it makes the coaches out to be duplicitous a-holes, because while they...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Rumor mill says EP player (who hasn't played HS yet) won't be at EP when season starts... probably not ever... then again... maybe a rumor. Puck , I reconfirmed as best I could tonight that Langenbrunner, Busby , Steeves, and Blake are all locked in. Although, as always , any Forum input to the con...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
The Motzko kid will not get screwed. The ADs will sign off no problem. All Bob has to say is, "do you want any of your athletes to have a chance to play for the Gophers, while I'm the coach?" Not saying it will come to that, but there is no way any AD would stand in the way knowing that is a possibi...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
I can confirm the reason Austin Cooley was not eligible for varsity last year is due to the Grand Forks AD deaming him ineligible for Varsity athletics. They would not wave him as being ineligible in MN after his move. MNSHL would not listen to his argument as I understand it even though the family...

Anyone who thinks this player's tranfer will be denied under administrative review is extremely naive to Minnesota hockey politics.

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Today's posts further confirm how provincial some (many?) Minnesotans are about their hockey. Oakland Grizzlies have been an upper-echelon Midget program for at least 5 years and frequently place kids in the "final 40" - I know they invite more than that now - tryout for the NTDP. Player in questio...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
GB, have you seen him play? I've not, but I see he is 5' 8" and was the 7th leading scorer on a midget team from California. If he's that good, someone should make a run at getting the number 1-6 scorers.GoldenBear wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 12:44 pmEP is a top 3 team now in my opinion. May be a Mr. Hockey Finalist. GB

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
The tension really is killing me. When will we ever learn the truth??? I’ve been eating sand since WM broke this huge story. Blood shot eyes, staring at my screen, hitting the refresh button, and listening to ABBA’s greatest hits on a classic 1985 boom box. I just put on a pair of depends so I can ...

Re: 2019-2020 Coaching Changes List
Seeing on twitter Lakeville North has hired Jaked Taylor as their new HC I assume this is the Jake Taylor who has been an assistant there. From the outside this is a good hire, he has been pretty involved in the coaching for a few years. Has the potential to be a decent coach once JE's kids are gon...
