Can't argue with the responses. You want to use that logic, go over to Toronto prospects, Bauer Invitational in Chicago and you will find a dozen or more draft picks out of those tournaments year after year. So do those tournaments win? By the way, incase you weren't sure, Shattuck is not a tourname...

how do they continue highschool education/do they transfer out there ?? Most just run down for the weekend games and are back for school in Minny tomorrow. :D You are joking right? Nobody goes up just for games. The CHL is a massive player development program. A ton of professional training on ice,...

Thanks for the clarity Elliott, it appears this rule is very clear. The $1,000,000 question I have is why this is a rule? I am trying to understand what the downside is to having a A team play a B1 team, especially when an A can play a AA (which I understand is new this year) and B1 can play B2 (bo...

No have not heard. Interested to hear more details. How many teams in the tournament? Where they all A teams? Is there an approval process through MH in place? Did they follow it? Were they told they can't and did? I think it's silly to require a separation of these teams if a team warrants a bump u...

I think the Minnesota association model is fine. It's a model that allows the sport to be enjoyed by the masses and keeps the costs down. More kids playing equals more chances to develop talented hockey players. Turning it into checkbook hockey will, in the end, cause the sport to die a withering d...

Re: One more thing
Personally, I'd like to see MN Hockey play both ways by simply changing the effing age groups, and the MSHL getting their heads out of their breezers. So it mainly boils down to not wanting 9th graders that are past Bantams, right? Well, yeah right -- more complicated than it might appear. But why ...

Cigar, you say dirtiest, cheapest and undisciplined. From your perspective what have been the most common examples of the teams' acts that show this. Not having as much experience as you with coach I'd like to know more. Reason I ask is there are different views of how to play the game effectively a...

And if you miss a few Fridays over the course of the school year for hockey in MI/Roseau or other distant MN tournament/chess tournament/band event/cheer competition... how does that impact a student and their academics? In no way at all. Good students can and do manage their workload around these e...

Pretty sure the 2 goalies. 11, 22, 9, and 10 for sure. While researching this feature, I discovered that the average age of this Edina team may in fact be younger than the average age of these three Detroit teams. I obviously didn't pull Birth Records but I know the birth years of most Edina kids t...

Shinbone/Blue are dead on. the system should work for both the community and also the player. In doing so it makes the level of hockey stronger for all kids. Set up an extra AA team if that is appropriate or at least another A team to allow those kids to compete at the level they should be at. Or l...

Based on reports from the participating local associations; The cost was extreme, in particular air fare The event was anticlimactic after the minnesota state tourney The event was not run well There was at least one other significant point - cannot rember it Since you need to indicate intent befor...

My point is that your response to the notion of competing in Nationals was that MN hockey conforms to USAH, ignores the fact that MN Hockey is not set up to do that. Even if there is some backdoor way of doing this, if you get the blessing of MN Hockey, it is impractical based on how the rostering i...

Why doesn't MNH change the birthdate rules to conform with the rest of the continent? MH does conform to USAH. MH is 2 years July to June. Rest of the continent tier II is 2 years January to December. MH 'peewee' kids are registered as bantam teams with USAH. There is nothing stopping an associatio...

Don't quote me but I believe that for Tier 2 National Tournaments teams have to be association based (no All-star teams) and they have to play something like 20 games together. MN Hockey would be better off just changing the age bands to what USA Hockey uses and that way the Edinas of the state can...

Very good post JSR. OG - it does depend on what level you play and just as importantly your coach or coaches. At the younger ages, a player may not be on the highest level team but if the coach is providing great instruction and skill development then they will have the opportunity to move up relati...

Re: Should Larger Associations Be Required To Field Multiple
My question is, if you took the kids from those teams and split them equally with their AA teams, they would still have very good teams and they would be exposing more kids to the higher level while still being incredibly competitive. ...equally divide their teams in the name of player development?...
