In conjunction with the girls HS game being broadcast live, they will also broadcast the women's game St. Cloud vs. Mankato live. An important also- if you have a good story relating to a girl player, or team- FSN is looking for stories that they can do an expose' piece on during the broadcast. You ...

Hockey Day

After much hard work and support from the girls hockey community, it is fantastic news that the girls game will now also be broadcast live on hockey day. In conjunction with this agreement the WCHA will also have increased presence on Fox Sports North during the course of the season with numerous li...

Year-end videos

I've seen a ton of great year end videos over the years. I figured it would be fun to see what other teams have done. Last year we had Doc Emrick announcing our girls. This year we had a message from Billie Jean King and Caitlin Cahow. Fun stuff! https://youtu.be/ptImPeff1WQ

In '99 Montana and Company was up big in the Super Bowl against Elway. It might even be the the widest margin of any SB. Anyway, they left Montana in and he threw his 5th touchdown, a record that still sits in the record book. I watched it, and it was fantastic. Nothing wrong with it at all IMO.

A couple thoughts on this. First off, my daughter was very grateful that she had the opportunity to play against what could be argued as the best team in both classes, and one of the best players in the nation. Being a goalie and having the chance to fend off a player of Bullock's caliber is every g...

Lots of legit calls, and many they missed. SPU ran the Warroad goalie 3 times, one time with an intentional knee to the head. Both teams cheap IMO. Fans and parents turning their backs on Warroad during player line ups, Warroad returning the favor during handshake. Yuck. Can't root for either...

Most teams have transfers- EP had a well known goalie move in from OMG. I know she left for greener pastures, but it's a good example. Good programs attract good players and if they follow the rules, no one should complain. The Mirage does have kids who have open enrolled, as does other teams in the...

I for one am not ok with the girls being kicked to the curb. I called the Wild numerous times and never received a return call. I also spoke with the head of the national women's sports foundation, who has many influential woman athletes, including hockey players, on its board. They will be exerting...

7A
Proctor/Hermantown
Marshall
Hibbing
International Falls
Moose Lake
North Shore
Eveleth/Gilbert

Interesting note here. 7A used QRF for seeding, which poses some anomolies due to games being played out of state/country against weak teams.

My personal opinion is that we should not punish the private schools, but look at a solution which promotes and grows the game of girls hockey. The privates do play an important role and provide some opportunities for girls that they wouldn't get otherwise, which most importantly in my eyes, is play...

Wolfman has a point regarding Hermantown/ Mirage. Although the word recruiting can be used loosely...the Mirage has definitely attracted kids from mainly Duluth, mostly open enrolled in 9th grade or earlier...mostly. The comparison to privates in the metro isn't really fair though, when looking at t...

Interesting stuff. Although I support privates as they provide an additional opportunity for our ladies, I too wish they went back to a separate tournament, or bracket, like they had a number of years ago. I think it would help the numbers at the high school level for several reasons, mainly more op...

Congrats for the win, but l stand by my statement. We all know teams have off days...and maybe your girls just have their number. That being said, in my humble opinion there was a significant difference in the depth and ability of the two teams. It hasn't been decided yet either- I'll reserve my cro...

Does the boys schedule for peewees permit that much free time in the evenings? Sounds like it's busy in never-never land! Si...

NTMH, you are certainly entitled, but you're wrong. I'm not sure where you get the time to watch all these teams considering your only involvement in girls hockey is your 12u daughter (right? wink-wink lol). Regardless, I've watched Blake, Breck and SPU in person while watching my hot/cold goalie da...

Wow Zoo, well said! Up here in the north we still have people who will openly say that girls shouldn't be playing hockey anyway and that it's bad for the sport. Duluth, the 4th largest city in MN can't field anything more than a coop with no JV team. Your points are all valid...

This should be the week that TRF and Blake is finally ranked properly (TRF shouldn't even be in the top 10 and won't see St. Paul come February, while Blake should be 5 or lower, and won't see St. Paul this year either)...and Breck and Warroad takes the #1 &#2 spot respectively. SPU is good, and...
