TV Coverage

Figured this topic will get started eventually anyhow but I’ll get the ball rolling with something other than Mike McGraw’s glasses. Remember when Phil Housley kept calling Marshall (Duluth) goalie by the name of “Paul Willie” instead of Willie Paul? Those were the days. Back to the point…why doesn’...

Re: 2023 Boys Hockey State All-Tournament Teams

How does the goalie from the class A state championship team that beat both Warroad and Hermantown and outshot both games not make the all tournament team. I'd have gone with Nick Hansen (Cathedral) and Charlie Brandt (Mahtomedi) for the goalies...and by quite a bit. The state tourney may have been...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

You just don't get that Hermantown develops its players and its the hockey program that attracts players to its program. Is that not what every community strives for? Wrong. Hermantown doesn't develop talent, they collect it. Over half of the talent that comes out of Hermantown were known to be goo...

Anyone know if this one will be streamed? If so, can you post a link?

I thought I saw that it was, but can’t seem to find it. I may be on crack.

Re: Who wins? Monticello vs St. Cloud Cathedral - Section 5A Championship

I thought the game was as even as the score and shot totals indicate. in my opinion, Cathedral had a deeper team with a couple more scoring chances, but Monticello clearly had the best player on the ice in Dahlheimer. He had a bunch of chances in the third period and finally capitalized at the end t...

Re: Hill-Murray Update

If it wasnt the Runnerup that had the COVID positive player, they should be eligible. , Then the actual team should be able to play in your scenario since nobody tested positive on the current team :) :) Rumor, from a credible source, every kid on Hill’s roster was tested on Monday. 0 tests came ba...

WCCO TV reporting now that the judge has ruled against the 9 players.
Well, this years’ tourney is a hard pass for me... don’t care at all if this is how the MSHSL is going to act. Garbage way to end a garbage year.
Have a great spring!

LOCK IT UP. Agreed. It's almost like people have made up their minds and all that's left is deciphering who is willing to go to battle in the unwinnable internet argument. I only hope and pray that you and yours don't become a statistic. And also that nobody pays attention to you and needlessly exposes themselves to the virus. You've made your point. Re: HERMANTOWN VS ST CLOUD CATHEDRAL

With the talent SCC has had the last couple years, and the nice home schedule they played this year, I've watched a lot of Cathedral hockey over the last couple years.

Pretty surprised that I didn't see 8-20-27 playing as a line at the X this week...

Thanks Stang! Wow with Smith out Cathedral becomes very normal. Will be a tough night up in Hermantown on Friday. Bigger implications are that 6A is now WIDE OPEN Alexandria and Little Falls just became instant State Tournament Contenders not that they werent but this really evens out the field. Wh...

Ugly Match-up! Glad to see SCC did some aggressive scheduling this winter  It’s a traditional rivalry, and with both teams essentially operating as independents I’m sure it was scheduled well in advance. No doubt the matchup will end if Lourdes remains down. Cathedral currently has the highes...

Mahtomedi knocks off STA tonight without Hagstrom playing. We know Hagstrom will return at somepoint. Dont Sleep on them. Big Win minus a star player! Statement win over an under .500 club. Take away their 9-2 loss to Hermantown, and this is the clear cut favorite in Class A. Didn’t they just lose ...

do you know anything about SCC’s roster? Losing Smith is big..but saying this makes Alexandria and or Little Falls basically even? You either don’t like SCC or don’t know much about their roster. Even without Smith they have 2 D1 commits ( how many does Alex and little falls have?). On top of that ...

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

If you want the strongest tournament, why wouldn't you want the best teams? There is still plenty of opportunity for upsets and great stories without the need for sections to get them. Look at Air Force beating St. Cloud in hockey last spring. How about Loyola Chicago in basketball last season gett...

Not if they played the same schedule as they played this year...already playing Moorhead, Roseau, Brainerd, etc. Playoffs at the Sanford Center in Bemidji would be less travel than trips to Amsoil.

Re: Class A State Seeding

I think SCC would get the #1 seed over Totino should the Eagles beat Mahtomedi tonight. TG would be 0-1 vs. the Class A field. The only game being a 7-2 early season loss to EGF. SCC is 3-0 vs. the Class A field, all against teams that appear likely be seeded (EGF, Greenway, Delano). The only reason...

I have no idea where Mack Motzko will end up. I'm sure there are quite a few folks who hope he's playing for the Crusaders next year. ESPN3 is very high quality and very accessible. You can get the app using basically every streaming device (AppleTV, Roku, Amazon FireStick, etc.). Congrats to the Cardinals on a hell of a run. Just wasn't meant to be today. With this experience under the belts of a lot of young, talented kids, certainly they'll come back hungry.
