Re: The Gentry Academy Thread

Anyone have the gentry roster and where they're from? NightMan beat me to the EP link. You have to do some digging to find out where they are actually from, but here is where some of the prominent players played youth hockey. Damon Furuseth - Roseau (family moved) Nick Sajevic - Mounds View Zach Re...

Re: Class A semifinal--Little Falls vs Dodge County

Sounds like we need to create separate classes for metro and non metro. Probably a separate state tournament too. Welcome to the pity party. Joking aside I don't think the intent of class A was to help build small, "non metro" programs specifically. It's an avenue for any team that falls under the e...

Maple Grove is no joke. They can move and shoot the puck. Lots of penalties from both sides. Andover hanging in there but MG a step ahead.

Re: Class A QF - Dodge County vs Hermantown

Aside from a couple players on DC I didn't think they looked very impressive against a JV squad. Quite a bit of sloppy play. But congrats to DC on their first tournament appearance and win. No sad feelings over here for h-town, all those kids have been to state before, most multiple times and have e...

Re: Hill-Murray Update

Remember that it's the MDH who is "recommending" quarantines, the MSHSL (and others like MN Hockey) have mandated that those "recommendations" be followed. That this happened should really surprise nobody, people have been talking about this possibility (on podcasts and in bars and lobbies) for mon...

Unfortunate situation but tis the year of the covid. Actually makes this game very interesting! Basically Zam vs dodge county. I don't wish ill against any teams but of all the teams to have this happen to I am the least disgruntled that it was hermantown. Kinda feels like the hockey gods serving a ...

Unbelievable game. So many times it was within an inch of ending. Hats off to ex Grand Rapids goalie Stejskal, a freshman for UMD making his tournament debut. Over 50 saves and lasted into the 4th overtime when he was pulled due to cramps.

High schools represented in NCAA tourney

I must have been really bored. Here are the top 9 high schools represented by the 16 teams in the NCAA field. 1. Edina - 8 2. Hermantown - 6 3. Grand Rapids - 5 4. Elk River - 5 5. Eden Prairie - 5 6. Duluth East - 4 7. St Thomas - 4 8. Burnsville - 4 9. Holy Family - 4 Great to see this and a great...

Re: Section 7AA Final - Andover vs Grand Rapids

I thought the writing was on the wall when Rapids couldn't convert on their three PPs in the first period. Offensive firepower was always this team's Achilles Heel, and when they didn't take the early chances they got, it spelled trouble. Garrett Schifsky was the difference-maker, along with Will L...

Elk river 7
Forest lake 5

Close until the end when the Elks scored a sloppy one and followed with an empty netter. I only watched parts but the Elks looked like the better team, more composed. Flake had some good moments but generally looked outmatched.

Any updates on the other 7AA games?

I'm not well versed in the covid protocols for positive tests for high school hockey. If there's a positive does the team have to quarantine for 2 weeks?

Redemption is sweet. The Sandbaggers couldn't even muster half of their average goals per game. Must be nice playing the Eveleths and Virginia's of the world all the time (no offense Eveleth and Virginia).

Re: Games Tuesday 1-26-2021

Warroad 6, Roseau 3, final. Roseau clawed a few back at the end to make a rough game look a bit less lopsided. Warroad just looks like a bunch of kids playing pond hockey, and it's a treat to watch. Superb finishing and just nasty on special teams. I think they've reclaimed frontrunner status in 8A...

2007 was a really weird year for big upsets. 3 seed Hill lost to Rochester Century. I was driving and listening on the radio. When Century scores the game winner the announcers were just screaming at the top of their lungs. You couldn’t tell what they were saying. Then the announcer did his best Mi...

It sure seems after all these years that the Hockey Gods do indeed despise the Hawks, punishing them for their poor decisions year after year.
