Re: Section 4AA

I know of two for sure. Little hesitant to say here on the board just out of respect to the young kids and honestly don’t want to make it public in the event not everyone is aware

Re: Fluid AA Offseason Rankings: 2024-25

Thanks for doing this Brodzi Definitely a difficult job - and not knowing what will happen with some of the high-end players makes it all the more difficult. I, for one, love the early speculation. It's my last gasp of hanging onto the last couple of weeks that I love so much. I don't want it all to...

Re: 2024 AA tourney

I thought the refs were pretty good all tourney, including the championship game. I'm trying to recall all the penalites..... There was an obvious trip against Chanhassen in the third. And there was the retaliation penalty. The Edina player instigated it, but the relatiation looked worse. He went hi...

A tournament has been better than the AA tournament.
Agreed. But I think we all knew this was coming. Everyone knew it was gonna be a section 2AA v 6AA final, and that there would be duds in the QF and SF games. The section upsets made it even worse.

Lets hope for a solid 'ship game tonight

Re: 2024 AA tourney

I don't see anyone arguing that Mariner didn't win a quarterfinal game. I also don't see anyone, including WBL people, arguing that the Bears aren't 0-20 in quarterfinal games. Congrats to the DOLPHINS for their win 42 years ago. Not sure why you want to die on this hill, but I'll oblige: congratula...

Re: 2024 AA tourney

Nice post dherman8 I'm sure people would be just thrilled to have Wayzata, Edina, Tonka, Shakopee, Benilde, Chanhassen and Maple Grove at State  For the rest of the 98.7% of fans, we like to see a mixture of teams. North, south, metro, non-metro. New teams. New Unis. New blood. Blue bloods. Up...

Re: Greatest Ever Upsets at State

When I saw this topic, I recalled seeing a similar one from a few years ago. I posted about the 2007 then, and will do so again here. That year, 3 of the 4 seeded teams lost, Roseau was the lone seeded team to make it out of the quarterfinals. Hill, a 3-seed, lost to Rochester Century 5-6 (OT) and I...

Re: Sharpest and most boring uniforms at the tournament

The Bears uniforms are great. Have always like them, and they have several variations - all of which I think look good. I also really like Cathedral's unis. I actually thought Rochester's unis were nice - maybe a little boring but I dont mind the simplicity and the color schemes. I don't like Mahtom...

Re: 2024 AA tourney

Only long-suffering WBLers and their sympathizers will bring up Mariner. It was a separate high school, with a separate mascot, and a separate team that existed for a whopping 11 years. But if hanging onto Mariner's 'amazing' State tournament experience (which is, admittedly, more than the Bears ha...

Re: 2024 AA tourney

So Rapids avoids being the answer to a very painful trivia question, and they join the following group who White Bear has faced in the quarterfinal round: Duluth East, Hibbing, South St Paul, Eveleth, Moorhead, Roseau (2 ea), Blaine, Roseville, Anoka, Rochester Mayo, Duluth Denfeld, St Paul Johnson...

Re: 2024 AA tourney

MN sports in general is pretty cursed, and probably a decent comparison. But at least we've won playoff games/series in every major sport. The Bears have literally never gotten off the schneid. It would be the equivalent of the Vikings making the postseason all the times that they have, but not winn...

Re: 2024 AA tourney

Think about this: the Bears average making it to State every, what, 4 years give or take? At that pace, and assuming the Bears win every single opening game of the tournament , they wouldnt' get to .500 in quarterfinals games for almost 100 years. At that point hockey will be played by robots on a f...

Re: 2024 AA tourney

The Streak is almost hard to believe. Excluding White Bear Mariner from back in the day, is it 0-19 or 0-20 in quarterfinal games? What possible comparison is there to this? Cubs and Red Sox comparisons make sense, but those were championship droughts. Those teams made the postseason plenty of time...

Re: System Outage

The Bears got it done - congrats to those kids I watched the game online, and it had a very strange feel to it. The Bears score almost immediately, and for the rest of the game Hill controlled play. But the Bears did a great job of limiting Hill's attacks. Almost every chance was from the perimeter,...

Re: Playoff Games Wednesday 2/28/24

Thanks for the recaps. Interesting. I was actually very worried about Gentry going into sections. Earlier this year Hill was digging themselves all sorts of holes against teams - and my thought was that Gentry could build an insurmountable lead. Sounds like they almost did. I see the Bears are smack...

Re: Coaching Changes 2024-25 - Official Thread

How about Ken Pauly? Has he accomplished anything in the past 11 years? A fair question, given BSMs lack of section success. But he has his teams consistently in the top 10-15, but saddled with a brutal section his teams haven’t gotten over in recent years. His teams seem to play a very offensive m...

Re: All-Metro State Tournament

If it does happen it will be the 1st time in 80 years. I don’t think I’d make any significant changes unless it becomes a long term trend. It was talked about a lot starting in the early 80’s. It never really turned into the northern demise people thought (or hoped) would happen. The fact that it h...

4AA Quarterfinal (8) East Ridge 1 (1) Hill-Murray 4 (eng) Final Didn't see the game but surprised by the score. Maybe it was the 11AM start or the knowledge that East Ridge was probably not going to win that had Hill not on their A-game today. IDK. I see they outshot them like 60-17. Lets see if th...

4AA section tickets are available here, for all rounds. I'm pretty certain they don't any at-the-gate sales.
