Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

My son will be a senior this year. We're okay with the MSHSL plan and the chance for him to play his final year for his school and with his teammates and at the same time minimizing risk to vulnerable family members. I cannot understand why people are insisting we act as though we are not in the mid...

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams

1) Lots of politics in youth hockey so kind of respect people being open about their intentions. I'm guessing this is a proposal that one person or a small group in the association made to the board, so that doesn't mean it's being really seriously considered though. 2) My kid's former assoc. has ba...

To answer the original question in this thread:

Forest Lake from to D10
JCNSP to D2
Woodbury to D2
Becker/Big Lake to D5
Burnsville to D8
Northfield maybe to D8

And, yes a pipe dream, but build dead associations back up and recreate D1.

Angst towards Hermantown is misplaced in my eyes. Play the best AA during the regular season and then win a championship among school size peers at the end of the year. From a player point of view, that's a great experience and clearly is good enough to develop D1 talent. Yes a AA championship would...

Three kids returning from BAA. [1forward,1D,1goalie] I think 8 to ten return from single A. maybe as many as 4/5/6 pee-wee AA that can hplay at that level. It only takes 5/6 kids from each grade soph,jr,sr. to put together a good varsity. The thing that killed me was the parents clapping at the boar...

Peewee coach rant

One of Edina's 4 PWB2 teams just took 3rd in the 32 team Peewee B1 Maple Grove tourney that ended today. Congrats to them and the Edina B1 Green team that won it. This tourney had many of the most sucessful pwb1 teams this year so a "B2" team going that far really struck a nerve with me th...

Non-binding suggested team placement per number of kids in an age grouping at each association. aa, a, b1, b2, c = wow thats a lot of levels and really hard to place teams competitively. Lots of blowouts at peewees this year I've seen. Not fun, not good for development. Associations that have tried ...

My son had a kid play down on his squirt team about 7 years back. The kid has a handicap. He 2 years older I believe and was bigger but it worked out just fine, no problems.

I would think new players at the peewee and bantam ages would be considered good candidates to play down.

With the Elite league teams being Tier 1 now why didnt they integrate those teams into the regular 18u and 16u brackets for the NAHL tournament? Good move by MN hockey to add this opportunity this year. Anyone know why they were play in the high school category? Isn't JR Gold the equivalent to Midgets? I see they have an 18u tier II category. Why not there?

If JR Gold can play high school teams at nationals, why not here in MN?

In four years we have yet to have a parent ask that their son or daughter's name be removed. In fact, the response is quite the opposite.
