Well both of those tidbits are good to know: 1) Big Sexy is Sengvongxay 2) That no one is leaving the Cards I heard yesterday that Toby is indeed trying to make an NA team and is planning on leaving. Has there been any final word on Sengvongxay? If he is in Luverne for his senior year they will be ...

Clyde Bellecourt is hardly a carpetbagger. I dare say he's more local than you are. He's Ojibwe of the White Earth tribe, which is the nearest reservation to Warroad. He's best known as the co-founder of the American Indian Movement, but he also founded the Heart of the Earth Survival School, the P...

I tend to agree it is a waste of resources. But if there is going to be one, then it really should be in Minnesota, where youth and U18 hockey is preeminent. Transportation times and costs to and from MSP cant be much diff than Ann Arbor, so that factor has neutralized over the years. They could bo...

Re: Warroad mascot
http://www.warroadmnnews.com/mobile/default.aspx?MemberID=2095&IsHome=1&ID=86278 Bound to happen sooner or later. I with they would have asked the local community their thoughts on the logo. I'm sure we will see a loud support for the Warrior mascot, especially from the local Native Americans. Henr...

Agree that it's "all the usual suspects" here and it can be frustrating if your kids hasn't been one of the anointed ones since mites. But you can take some consolation in knowing that (1) puberty is still coming for many of these kids and it will shake the dice up pretty good; 14/15 is where there ...

I would argue that a kid like Will Butcher, being in Wisconsin, benefits from proximity to Minnesota, and Wisconsin community hockey is pretty strong too. Not a stretch for scouts at all. Also, it's manifestly clear that the USNDTP works VERY hard to find kids from USA Hockey regions other than Minn...

If some Native Americans somewhere are offended, then that should be enough for non-Native folks to do the honorable thing. You can't tell people to "get over it" and to "stop being so sensitive" and that it "honors your heritage" or even "the locals support it." It doesn't work and never has, and t...

Bash Minnesota Hockey all you want, but there is no question that: a) Minnesota produces more high level players than any other state by a factor. It produces more professionals playing at the highest level than any country other than Canada. Sweden has about as many. b) Hockey parents and players e...

This could be the best thing for MN Hockey. Might only benefit 20% of the kids playing hockey. That pretty much sums it up, dunnit. Yes, let's make hockey even more exclusive and expensive than it already is. If we have fewer hockey players, they'll be better... naturally. This is why Massachusetts...

Reading this thread, I cannot help thinking what if MN Hockey would open up their residency rule and let any hockey player play where they want. My son use to play soccer and that governed body lets players play anywhere. If this happened in hockey, associations would be forced to get their house i...

Jaxon Nelson is Special he is going to be the top 2000 birthdate in this State. He put on a greta show today was very impressed. Now that's a pretty big claim, actually, considering the depth of the 2000 birth year around the state. Most are still playing PW or Bantam, of course... so, you know, ho...

I'm no hater, it's great to see LN at the top of the rankings, and they're clearly building momentum when it counts. Would be great to see them take a team of "unknowns" to the state 'ship. I look forward to seeing them play. Still, I feel like their strength of schedule is not exactly Lake Conferen...

Re: NHL Central Scouting Midterm rankings
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=699869 3 projected first rounders from Minnesota with Glover at 27, Dougherty at 29 and Collins at 32 The highest High school player is Snuggerud at 61 followed by Slattery at 67 and Spinner at 70. Pleasant surprise to see Miguel Fidler at 180. Was not expecting t...

Word is that the Pioneers wil be wearing the throwback uniforms again Thursday against White Bear Lake. I think a big part of Edina's success is that every opponent brings their A game against the Hornets, from Squirts to Varsity. Like someone else said, this high school team has a long tradition and culture of outworking opponents -- because they have to. That has to come from coaching, I think. And ...

Out of all the private schools in the Twin Cities how many kids are from Minneapolis? Schools such as BSM, Breck, AHA, TG, even HM and STA SWPrez probably could ballpark better than I -- but I'd say there are 3 or 4 varsity players at Breck and BSM, 2 or 3 at AHA and Blake. I know there are a few M...
