Re: GIRLS HS HOCKEY COMPUTER RATINGS: DEC 18, 2022

I assume the slight offset between net and gross for Andover, Edina, etc. is because one of their opponents played a team that is not used in PS? I assumed that also, but then a team like Cent/SLP would've been adjusted since they played Gentry too. But they stood at 17.740 for both Net and Gross. ...

Re: GIRLS HS HOCKEY COMPUTER RATINGS: DEC 18, 2022

Great work. What is the difference between "gross" and "net" hmmmmm Good question. Since it's noted that "Net Avg is a team's SOS average only in games which are used in PageStat" , maybe PageStat removed the Canadian and Wisconsin games from Gentry's schedule? If that...

Re: GIRLS HS HOCKEY COMPUTER RATINGS: DEC 18, 2022

Pagestat has strength of schedule as well: https://www.leepagen.com/strength-g.htm Thanks! From that, here's the AA teams. I was a bit surprised to see Gentry at 31. It seemed like they played enough good teams to put them somewhere in the top 15 for SOS. I guess not. Too many not so good teams (St...

Re: GIRLS HS HOCKEY COMPUTER RATINGS: DEC 18, 2022

Does anyone have an updated Ranking from this? Would be interesting to see the SOS of state tournament teams. Just thinking about the differences between all 8 teams and how wide a range they have. Edina, Tonka, Andover all played monster schedules. Rosemount and Lakeville stayed south of the river...

Re: 2023 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists

It's probably not a stretch... Seems like a big stretch, I'm sure the winner was already determined prior to Feb 10, and they don't have 3 rounds of voting. Whether it's a simple "select one girl to be Ms. Hockey" or "rank your top 5 girls for Ms. Hockey" and then they tallied i...

Re: 2023 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists

Zero transfers in the final group. Maybe that has something to do with it. Of course correlation does not imply causation, but at some point it probably becomes difficult for the selection committee/voters to completely ignore it. Agree with both of you. Item to note / watch: Of the past 27 award w...

Re: 2023 Section Seedings

Anyone have reason to feel slighted here? Not slighted or nefarious, but disappointing for Centennial to (randomly) get the 8 seed as they had a decent argument for the 5 seed. Really doesn't matter though, the bottom 4 seeds don't stand much of a chance against any of the top 4 seeds. It's probabl...

Re: 2023 Section Seedings

Crying? It was wrong and still is wrong even if they took care of BSM. Who do you think will be more well rested in less than two days? Blake after an 8-0 light scrimmage against Armstrong/Cooper or Edina after a very physical penalty fest against BSM? All 6 goals in the game were on the PP. Stay o...

Re: 2023 Section Seedings

Maybe because of the Maple Grove/Rogers game Monday night...but yea very odd Right, it is odd. Even if Rogers upsets Maple Grove tonight, there's no way that Maple Grove isn't the #1 seed. Rogers has recently lost to section foes Champlin Park/Coon Rapids, Centennial/SLP, North Wright County, and t...

Re: Section Predictions

If the Top 5 all make it to state it should make for a heck of a tournament with imho no clear cut favorite to win it all. If you are looking at the most recent coach's/hub pole, that's impossible. Hill or Gentry will be eliminated in section 4AA (both in top 5). Only 6 of the current top 10 can ma...

Re: Ms. Hockey 2023

I don't think the forum has suddenly become extensively negative, and hence has lost activity due to that notion. I simply think there's not as many people out there that know this forum exists. Plain and simple. Regarding negativity, I recall far more negativity or heating conversations 5-6 years a...

Re: Section Predictions

1AA - Lakeville South (the most up-in-the-air section) 2AA - Minnetonka (as easy to predict as 7AA) 3AA - Apple Valley (AV is the front runner, but as noted, anything can happen) 4AA - Gentry (arguably the toughest section) 5AA - Maple Grove (MG is clearly the best team, Centennial is a distant 2nd)...

She hasn't been kicked out of any, to my knowledge. She received no penalty at all for the assault on Sauer (Andover). The hit was 50 feet away from the puck, and I am guessing no official saw it live. They obviously had a chance to after the game, but there was no subsequent match penalty given, e...

Re: Games of the Week

Has #14 been kicked out of two games now, or three? MNHSL handbook section 206 states 2 ejections warrant a 4-game suspension. If these are violent acts, why isn't the coach, AD, school, or MSHSL doing anything about it? There's obviously a pattern of violent behavior, from what has been posted to ...

Re: Games of the Week

Looked like 15s was a 2 minute cross check and 10 for complaining, but I'm not sure. The initial hit was from behind, but it was more shove than a real crosscheck. If they gave the 10 for the hit, that seems like overkill - 2 minutes seemed about right. 14s was yet another dirty, dirty play. Very a...

Fantstic win by Champlin coming back from down by 3 - fun to watch (on Livebarn). Talk about thinking you had the game in-hand and then just tossing it away! Congrats to Champlin/Coon Rapids! Centennial rarely plays 3 periods "full" of hockey. It either takes them a period to get going, o...

Re: Congrats Minnetonka -- 5 players selected for Under 18 National Team

I've heard the word "dirty" thrown around recently as a result of physical plays, but a Tonka player (I'm not going to name names) made one of the dirtiest plays I think I've ever seen in a high school game with 20 seconds left in the third - blind side elbow to the head well away from th...

Re: Congrats Minnetonka -- 5 players selected for Under 18 National Team

I agree - it doesn't look like a player chased down a ref. So either the ref manufactured two assists on his own (or the scorekeeper in the box did), or it was adjusted after the game by the coach, but before either of us saw the game sheet. High school stats are often wrong as reported at game tim...

Re: Ms. Hockey 2023

From all that, I gather an early top 3 list of being Boerger, Morrison, and Sajevic. Two going to St. Thomas and the other going to Dartmouth. With that said, there's always a future Gopher in the running. Therefore, I'll put Goettl and Lindsay in the group to round out the top 5.

I thought Lalonde, Kim and Scannell all made it, all of whom are at Shattuck, none of whom are Minnesotans. OK, I see it now. Looking back at all the previous lists all posted by Iceburg and Eagles93, they had both MN and non-MN players (Shattuck) listed. The very last list says (Minnesotans), I mi...
