2 points in 11 games to 41 points in 59 games? Why did he not make the cut at the U? Lots of guys sit in the bleachers at D1 programs. For ice time, only high school is worse. 4th line junior players log more ice than those guys by a 2:1 margin or better. Heck, 4th line bantam players log more ice ...

Minnesota HS hockey has put out plenty of FIRST rounders the last 15 years - would have been one of the most talked about players out there, not on the bench/back burners with a bunch of 20 year olds. - would have been a scoring machine at Breck... He already had the grit that Portland mostly uses ...

Thanks for the detail. This sounds like a pretty great deal. Can someone on the other side of the argument explain why this supposedly isn't?? Additionally, over 140 current WHL players are receiving financial assistance to enroll in post secondary classes while playing in the WHL. There is only 50...

Thanks for the detail. This sounds like a pretty great deal. Can someone on the other side of the argument explain why this supposedly isn't?? They publish every year the kids who are in school through the WHl scholarship program - and they should. It's something to be very proud of. Here's this ye...

But that doesn't make what you said a fact. Quite contrary, it was an inflated stat, which I have found you like to throw around. I only called you out on it. No biggie. I'm happy to get back on topic - the Harsh Reality of Making it to the Show I stated nearly double, it is nearly double, therefor...

Thanks Blue. I only brought it up because I know it wasn't 100% (therefore not a fact). It really didn't have much to do with my point or this topic. The stat doesn't pertain to hockey, but it does pertain to the value of education. My parents expected me to graduate college and I expect my kids to...

Love these discussions. How exactly does the scholarship thing work with the WHL? I'm interested and I've heard a lot of different things, not all of which can be true... It's really not very complicated. (cut and paste) For every season a player plays in the WHL, they receive a full year guarantee...

Anyway, it's off topic from your original point. I don't know enough about the WHL path to say it's better or worse than the NCAA path. You've provided some interesting info tho. 8) Thanks Blue. I only brought it up because I know it wasn't 100% (therefore not a fact). It really didn't have much to...

Scorekeeper, stop muddying all these raw feelings with facts!!!! How do you think we ended up with obama anyway!!! LOL. You just dont know what you just dont know and in Minnesota, most of what is "known" about the CHL has been intentionally misrepresented. Here is an interest snapshot though. All ...

The gap in wages between those with/without a degree has widened dramatically since then. Just awful. I guess there's a reason he is writing for Cracked. I actually feel bad for anyone that read his article and used his inaccurate and outdated 'facts' as a factor in their education decision making....

Frankly, you come off as disingenuous when you refuse to admit that there are absolutely NO cons to playing in the WHL. ??? Didn't know I was being interrogated. Where is the question? Or better yet, perhaps you can enlighten us ... what are the cons? ACTUAL tangible cons, not the over-reached hypo...

I'm sure the WHL education package works out for some guys. But these are also guys that basically have to make a tough decision by age 20 or 21 to give up the serious pursuit of a pro career. Because they have to make a decision within about a year after leaving the WHL about whether to go to scho...

A college degree is not a way to say that you are a success or not. Worth noting that a bachelor degree isn't what it used to be.. College grads make nearly twice as much as non-college grads. This is just a fact backed up by a source, not an opinion about pursing a hockey career. I just thought it...

Thought I read that 4 out of 25 rostered CHL players will end up getting a degree in their life? Not sure about the OHL/QMJHL but I know in the WHL it's twice that much. Over 30% of WHL players go to college on the money they EARNED playing Major Junior Hockey. Also, 60% of them turn pro. Worth not...

I always look at stuff like this and wonder. The big push against WHL is the fact that you won't get scholarship money to go to college. Who cares if you don't if going that way means that you get to have fun playing hockey? If you have to go to college the old fashion way with pell grants and stud...

This matchup reminds me of the Eagan/Eastview section final in 2013. Eagan had the the 3 lines of firepower and Eastview had the defence and hot goaltender. The stifling defence and hot goaltender prevailed. Earlier in the year Eastview had also upset the Wildcats, just as Eagan has already beat Edi...

I'm hoping to maybe see or at least hear from Scorekeeper this week with his prediction. Happy to accomodate. Of course, following the Wildcats long distance, so my prediction is made purely with my heart and I'll call for a 3-1 win with an EN goal. I also agree with the earlier poster that this gr...

Why would you want to play on team and not get much ice time? Your logic is hard to follow. I found it the other way around actually. If you are advocating high school hockey where half the kids on any given high school team don't see any significant ice time, and NCAA hockey, where up to 30 roster...
