Easton Cup

Been pretty quiet in here lately. Watched some pretty good hockey this weekend at the Easton Cup! What fun watching Euro, Blades, Machine, Miracle Gold, Velocity, Machine Black/ Finland, at the 2002 level. Some great games. I wish these teams played in more tourneys together, it would make for some ...

Dont sweat it. Its too bad she was asked and then denied. If she was asked by a team out of her region the coach should have told you this could happen. Save the money on tourney cost and the hotel. Its a who u know thing not a best player thing. Done it once wouldnt go again. Super Series is the sa...

Exactly Nuts! Each of these teams did have their shot at making state. It really shouldn't matter the geography of where each team is from. Win and you are in. Geography and who you play against should make no difference. Regions start with 32 teams and end up with 8 going to state, of the 24 teams...

My last two cents... Wether or not the state tourny was set up so every part of the state is represented, I don't know. But, I think it's fair to say it should be set up every team has the OPPORTUNITY to get there and I think we are doing that.. In an earlier post someone mentioned how back in the ...

I also understand what everyone is saying. However, the fact still remains that our outstate programs are given over-representation to Regional tournaments. A fact that upsets some metro associations. I think the system we have is a good compromise. When both outstate and metro groups claim it is u...

A couple of things. Why play the Regions then, just pick your best 8 as the metro sees it and go with that. The Peewee AA North Region was set up pretty well, with no metro teams in it as it should be. I don't care what level, youth or high school, state tournament participants should come from eve...

Isn't the goal to get the best teams to state? No. The goal is to get the best teams from all the different parts of the State to the State Tournament. Senerio: Strong Metro team A beats northern team B 7-1 during the season in a sleeper. Team B makes it to state in weaker Northern region. Team A i...

"Duck, geese, turkeys, fox -- wildlife like crazy," Lori Shippy recalled. "We haven't seen much in the winters now." Does she normally see alot of ducks & geese on the frozen pond all winter? "and they also worry that animals or people could get hurt there." So she'd rather have the fox and turkeys...

I agree fair play should be used instead of equal play.. And i think there is a difference between bantams and pewees as far as fair play goes. But I find it funny that a lot of teams carry 12-13 skaters and the coach still can't find a way to use all their players. I think there are times and circu...

In 2005-06 season the Edina had what a couple coaches described to me as the best 1st line in the state. They also commented that while they did not have anyone that can skate with them Edina 2nd and 3rd lines were a bit weaker then what they had. The Edina coach kept his big guns on the ice all th...

Re: Short Bench

Not sure what might be defined as fine line. Plenty has been studied and written about player hockey development and the children's physical development. Granted some programs the 3rd line may drop dramatically but in the big programs where there are plenty of good players I don't see the rational ...

Re: AAA hockey

How do you choose the right AAA program for your child? We are feeling very torn on the decision. Our son was given an opportunity to play with Team Walser from MM but we also have a great AAA program in our town. I have noticed that most people given the chance go to MM. Is it an opportunity we sh...

It has bothered Machine Black parents and kids in the past. If it bothers them enough they leave the program. As one parent said, "It's all about the Orange." I dont really care, i m not invovled with the program so they can do what they want. But the Black teams are decent without them and its not...

I personally watched 3 kids from the Orange score a lot of the '01 Black's goals. If you look on the site, i have photos from the game. I know one of the three so well, that I cheered when he scored a bar down beauty. Ranking the Machine Black is really tough...let's just leave it at that. I do my ...
