Glad that is over. Give Appolo credit for having a run at it but I am not so sure that they had fun making memories that they will treasure for a lifetime like that clown announcer kept repeating. Was gonna say he droned on about it but no point in giving Sen Rand more ammo.

It's official, Denfeld is the best team in the Duluth area as they beat East, Marshall, and Hermantown. Howie is so excited he could scratch glass with his nipples right now. If there is a hall of fame post, this one would get my vote. Spewed coffee on that one..Great Quote!! This one needs t...

Hogan Davidson got a ruptured spleen today. Wishing him a quick recovery. Also wishing him a speedy recovery. As for the Hounds, I just don't understand what is going on with them. The youth programs that are feeding their high school are fading away. The number of kids who are in the programs is d...

Re: Saturday 12/15 games cancelled

Hermantown vs. Rogers cancelled because of ice/rain storm. More to follow I am sure. Oh really? The huge competitive rivalry section game for the Hawks will have to wait. I'm sure the 25 goal beat down can wait. Maybe Hermantown can get there Bantam A team to play the regular season. This Bantom A ...

That rink really needs to be looked at when it comes to hosting a big game. I think that the rink is great for the smaller youth games or for those lower attendance games like Denfeld/Virginia but when a team is there against a big local opponent it needs to be moved. There should never be a play of...

Doesn't there have to be an urge to go up to AA at STA though? They have basically ran the table for so long at A that it is not even really question mark anymore. I would think that within STA and their boosters that they would start to look at where they are and say that they need to make a move a...

Idealizing the past, grumbling about the present and downright depressed about the future is what many Rangers have regarding economics and high school sports. Forget hockey for a moment. Take a look at champions' lists from all large-revenue sports (football, hockey, basketball) and one would wond...

Marshall didn't recruit well that season. Right now you see less and less small A public schools being able to compete with the privates. That trend will continue. What?! The Marshall/East/Denfeld/Proctor/Silver Bay Hilltoppers recruit? Just because 1 out of every 7 students at that school is a boy...

Good point. I think Parker is the best in 7AA. Best goalie in 7AA? Nope. Shepard frm gr is hands down. Both are great athletes and are well trained but Shepard is quicker and more disiplined than Parker. Parker counts on his athletic ability and his agility to come throu for him and Shepard doesn't...

Re: Future of High School Hockey Great Article

Agree or dis-agree this article makes some great points! http://www.westerncollegehockeyblog.com/high-school-hockey Agreed, a very interesting and well written article that avoids the usual polarizing angle that commentators here have already started to lay out. Thing is, kids aren't stupid. They h...

A question, how far in advance are the scrimmages scheduled? When and who does that? I assume that the scrimmages are used to sort kids out between varsity and jv and cut for these teams so you would want a close game rather than a blow out. How about the during the season tournies and those "o...

The Enlightened One: I think you are overstating things and next year will be fine. Keep something in mind, EVERYONE will have played minimal check PW the past 2 years. Yes, the super-duper AAA summer kids will have been exposed to checking. But they are tremendously skilled hockey players that don...

I totally agree the problem lies with the referees inability to call the rule book as it has been written for years. In fact, most or all of these "new rules" are not changes to the rule book, they are changes to the penalty time served and now suspensions. I think your "blood bath i...

Ahhh, the answer is so simple. Make everyone play AAA hockey year round and there will be no problems moving from PW to Bantam! Another example that we all owe the future of hockey to spring/summer/fall AAA programs. Not at all. What this is has nothing to do with AAA hockey. What this is is way si...

Stumbled onto a few of those games over the course of the last couple of years. Some great hockey played. Will have to see if any of them are playing locally and when so that I can try to sneak over to a few of them.

Yup, this year it won't be too big of a deal with checking since the PeeWees were checking for a year before it was removed. Next year though is going to be a blood bath. The numbers will drop as kids enter bantams which will make USA Hockey/MN Hockey want to remove checking from Bantams so that the...

Ouch, sorry about that. :)

Point still stands though that you are stuck in a position that is pretty untenable from the standpoint of trying to offer a group of kids the opportunity to play hockey.

Another great example of Mn model working out in the end. Ahhh, no. Had MN had a club hockey model like the rest of the world uses the C team who needed a few kids would have been able to put out the word that they needed a few kids and the kids in question would have been free to go take a look. I...

That is a shi**y situation. I hate when someone expresses a concern like this and then is blasted with accusations of laziness, unwillingness to volunteer, and expecting too much from their association. Give me a break. Your association is screwing 10 kids & families AT THE SQUIRT level. I don'...

Another point to come n with is that usually the associations pay for a certain number of tournies and district games. If your team is not going to be gong to the same number of tournies as the upper teams tell your squirt coordinator to apply your unused tourney entry fees to your ice bills. Also c...
