Re: Moving from AA to A

I fully agree with the idea that sopmething should be done about the imbalance in sections. While it would be nice to see AA sections re-aligned so that two sections are not so top heavy, that is not going to happen given the MSHSL criteria for drawing section boundaries. I'mnot susre there would be...

Well, Stilwater and White Bear both lost multiple section finals to HM.
To be fair, they both won some too.

Re: Fluid AA Offseason Rankings: 2024-25

Let's see
HM since 2006
19 consecutive appearances in the section final
14 state tournament appearances in that time
Played in the state championship game four times
Won two state titles

Yep, definitely sounds like a team that is constantly overrated.

Re: 2024 AA tourney

I was watching the game with some friends and some of them were of the opinion that there should have been matching penalties on the play which led to ther power play where Edina scored the winning goal. The way I saw it, it appeared the refs were going to call nothing and then the Chanhassen took t...

Re: Section 4AA

The point I was trying to make was that the women's tournament at Ridder has games at 1:00 and 4:30. Due to traffic and other concerns, they try to avoid having games in Mariucci and Ridder at the same time. Not saying it's a valid concern, just that it is a concern.

Re: Section 4AA

I completely missed this earlier.... what in the world. What was behind the decision to move the consolation to Aldrich? Just poor attendance at Mariucci? Wanted to give WBL fans a shorter drive for their 2nd game. :D Gophers will more than likely be hosting the first round of the BIG tournament th...

Re: Section 4AA

The early game Friday morning may have a small crowd, but the White Bear Lake fans will be so thrilled that they don't have to drive all the way to Mariucci, they will likely come out in big numbers.

Re: Playoff Games Wednesday 2/28/24

That's pretty much what happened. Hill outshot Gentry by a 2-1 margin, but was still behind with six minutes left. TYhey got teh tying goal and teh go ahead goal about two minutes later. An empty net goal with 12 seconds left accounted for the 4-2 final. Hill's going to havbe to play better on Frida...

Re: Games of the Night

HM wins a close one 2-1. Edina outshot them 29-22, so I assume it was very even. I wasn't able to watch. They see each other at least once more, so Edina will have a chance to exact some revenge. Edit: Guess they don't have a second scheduled game. Hill plays Tonka, Andover and Holy Family twice. N...

Re: What’s going on in Tonka?

I don't see any reason why a no transfer rule would need to be hockey only. The same thing could be true in all sports/activities: If you have played varsity in any sport at one school and transfer to a different school after ninth grade, you sit out a year of varsity competition. No exceptions.

Re: What’s going on in Tonka?

Spread Out "I agree that cracking down hard on transfers is likely the best solution. I’d go a step further. If you transfer for any reason, period, you can only play JV the year you transfer. Too many are gaming the loopholes now. The number of transfers for true hardships, bullying, job relocation...

Re: 2023-24 Season Transfers

To be fair to the MSHSL (it's almost painful to write that), they have neither the budget nor the personnel to police rule enforcement. they have to rely on the school administrators to self enforce and, obviously, some will do that better than others.

Re: 2023-24 Season Transfers

My cousin's ex-husband told me he had talked to a guy who was at a suburban bar who had overheard a conversation in which someone said his neighbor's nephew might transfer from a declining power to an up and comer. Something about being upset with the coaching situation. But I'm not going to reveal...

Re: What is your favorite State Tournament Chants ??

This was in sections rather than the state tournament, but I found it hilarious. A few years back, Stillwater and White Bear Lake were playing in a Wednesday semi for the right to play Hill-Murray in the Friday night final. Late in the game, White Bear had the lead and their fans began the tradition...

Re: Class AA QF - Hill-Murray vs #1 Minnetonka

Wait a minute, did you just say Hill's section (4AA) is tougher than Edina's (6AA)? This year was an outlier, but in most seasons, Hill is pretty much a lock to get to the section final and usually favored to win it. White Bear and Stillwater, the usual opponents for Hill, are perennially good teams...

Re: State Tourney AA Seeding Predictions

Any crime needs a motive. What would be the motive here? What does the MSHSL have to gain by pitting Tonka against Hill as opposed to Cretin? I just don't see it. I just don't see why they would care enough to bother. Any effect on ticket sales or TV ratings is marginal at best and questionable at ...

I personally don't think its a conspiracy. But it sure seems like 9/10 the 'random' #8 would have been the actual #8. So are they putting the 3 random team names in a hat and having a guest drawer pull them out? Frankly I think they should put the whole selection process on YouTube. Why not? I'd tu...
