I was very impressed with the Hermantown forecheck from the 3rd period on. They were super committed to jumping the first pass and and always had a body there to initiate contact. That 3rd period was a clinic on offensive zone play.

Impressive game by South. Out-muscled the Cadets for much of the game.

I know of some players from Annandale/Maple Lake doing this in the past. I think it's a good solution.

Premier high school sports event in the country (MN hockey) and Midco does not have it in HD - UNBELIEVEABLE ! Is 45 transmitting it in HD ? It was on MidcoSN3 for about 20 minutes, then they cut the broadcast. I'm not sure why the 're not covering it. It says it's supposed to be on. Saw that - the...

Big comeback win for Red Wing over Albert Lea 6-5 in 2OT. Wingers were down 4-1 going into the 3rd.

Lourdes also beat Waseca 9-2. Should be a good game Saturday :)

Thief River Falls beats East Grand Forks: 3-1 I was at this game tonight. EGF definitely controlled the play after the first period. They were running a hard 2-man forecheck all night and really made it difficult for the TRF D-men. For the first two periods EGF tried to work the low game and had so...

I'm somewhat surprised at how far apart the scores have been so far... I figured the seeds 5-12 would play each other closer. Apparently there's a huge disparity.

I think the high seed will win all the games tonight. That said though, I wouldn't be surprised if all the games - minus Red Wing vs Winona - are at fairly competitive. But I guess they're now rivals too... So who knows.

But it does make me wonder how Hanowski, Spehar, Oshie, Pohl, etc etc etc would have faired playing on a average at best team that plays a weak schedule.. Hanowski Im guessing didn't play many great team in his HS years Hanowski had Jared Fesler like Nelsen has Smedsrud. Pretty sure Pohl played a v...

Well 2 wins this week would put them probably in the top 12 in the pairwise. Not sure that will happen though. Non conference they aren't doing so hot. The Gophers are fortunate they're playing in the Big 10. That alone might get them to the national tournament. That said though, they definitely ha...

I'm putting my money on one of the Mankato schools this year. With New Prague now in section 2, I don't think there is any clear cut winner just going with a gut feeling. Northfield could challenge but with the loss of their goaltender to Lakeville they will be taking a tough blow. The Lourdes coul...

With the exception of the Breck game back in 2010, Hermantown has given up at least five goals in every championship game. That's not exactly a winning recipe... The St. Thomas game in particular demonstrated a huge inability to close out a game. I'd consider their shortcoming to be the result of de...
