Re: Class A 2019-2020

Denfeld losing a ton. They will have 2 forwards and goalies. Period. The 2 forwards returning were Denfelds leading scorers. Denfeld loses #3 & #4 leading scorers but gain at least 4 forwards coming up that can play and score. The forwards coming up are more complete that play far better both ways ...

Fake news = Home cookin. I'm guessing we will see the Hunters Jr. netminder tonight. They have been rotating. Something coach did last year too.

Re: The Hermantown Thread

7a needs four coaches/schools to opt up and play in 7aa. Leave Hermy in 7a to do what they do. Make 7aa all northern schools. What the difference?

This just supports my theory that the Hermantown players just don't get excited to play in the A tourney anymore. These kids played AA all through youth, competed well, and then get demoted to single A where making it to the title game isn't a challenge anymore. I'm still trying to wrap my head aro...

I wonder if 7AA's reliance on QRF will force H-town's hand regarding the A versus AA debate. My impression is that 7AA teams don't gain anything by playing A teams - it even sounds like it could hurt them. So, why would 7AA teams continue to schedule H-town. For example, GR played two games against...

So, if we look at just the records against each other. Using only Hibbing, Denfeld, I Falls, and Eveleth. Hibbing 1-3 Eveleth 3-3 I Falls 2-2 Denfeld 3-1 If this is correct seems to me the strongest case is for Denfeld. This can’t really be solved head to head because everybody has beat and been bea...

Maybe, if Greenway would follow Hermantown's model and play Bantam AA they would have more success in HS.[/quote]

Honestly I don't even know where to begin with a statement like this. I wish is was as easy as just playing AA.

Well as I said before I have seen almost all of the teams and was at the green denf game. Wish you were. Stats are deceiving when taken like they were. Shots were not even. Sorry. I guess you had to be there. I've seen just about every Hibbing game and they are good. Deep? I question that. They had...

In a perfect world, A teams would opt up more often when they had a great class come through. If a team has never made a significant run in A, then they should go for it in A and use that as a springboard to build steam around their program and grow. Once that is accomplished, then I think teams sh...

Re: Duluth Central vs Eveleth 1999:Greatest playoff shocker?

With the section playoffs starting next week, I was wondering if anyone still remembers Duluth Central upsetting Eveleth in 1999?The Golden Bears were the defending state champs and where expected to easily advance to state and perhaps repeat. But an inspired Central Trojan team went up to Eveleth ...

MSHSL does geographic regions. Run a couple of metro teams through Luverne's section and we might not have that great story. Armstrong and I believe Farmington have AA high schools....great for them I guess?

How about a shout out too to the AA associationns who made the A State Tournament  Geographic regions are good for hockey. The greatest hockey tournament in the country does it this way too.

Not only were there a number Marshall kids on the East Bantam AA team last year there was a Denfeld kid too. Factor in that some were first year kids and that does not leave a lot of new players for the high school team.

Class A Hermantown  I would bet a reasonable amount of money Hermantown hockey has more players than DE does top to bottom. Especially, with the number of players who move in at middleschool. Sorry, I just think it is time they join DE (before the Red Plan), Cloquet, and Roseau. Move up and pl...
