Re: HS Elite League Rosters
Wow, the rift between the CHL and NCAA is heating up. The CHL is discontinuing scout passes for NCAA scouts. They will still be able to attend games, but will have to pay for a ticket. I guess they are upset at some of the "poaching" that some NCAA schools have done, but nothing different...

Re: HS Elite League Rosters
In the pipes I think the real reason college coaches don't come to as many HS games today is they are now to busy trying to poach kids off other D-1 teams..Or they are watching the major junior games up in Canada. It's just a matter of time before kids playing pro hockey (in the ECHL or AHL) are al...

Re: HS Elite League Rosters
I also think part of it is that it used to be "the" destination for NCAA coaches in their recruiting efforts, but with the video tools they have at their disposal (and have had for the past decade) it probably isn't nearly as important as it once was as they can sit in their office and get...

Interesting to see three 9th graders rostered, including a goalie. Haider the last goalie to play at that age?

Re: Tonka - New Prague
They did this with the boys in the 90s and ditched it ASAP because it sucked then and it would suck now too. Just shrink AA to 48. Or don’t, someone is always going to be the worst team. Before my time, what were the main points that made suck? Also before my time but it basically turned the Tier I...

Re: Tonka - New Prague
Good to see a post about this. My opinion is that there shouldn't be "A" and "AA" in girls hockey. Have one division but play for two titles. Take the top 32 teams based on some computer system (what's the one we had around here) and put them in the MSHSL tourney. Then have the ...

Re: The NCAA is poised to let in Canadian major junior hockey players. Here’s what it could mean to the CHL
Like yes posted above, I would think you would see more D1 schools add hockey. Likely in some of the non hockey areas in the country. Seems like it could be a way to grow the game in the US. Not saying there aren’t negatives in the plan but long term it may be a good decision. Unless all these CHL ...

Re: The NCAA is poised to let in Canadian major junior hockey players. Here’s what it could mean to the CHL
"They" would tell you that the increased import limits raises the level of play in the league and is better for development. I agree with you though, takes development opportunities from American born players. Then we have: A) Far too many USA Hockey junior teams in existence B) A failure...

Re: The NCAA is poised to let in Canadian major junior hockey players. Here’s what it could mean to the CHL
“College hockey gets deeper and more Canadian,” said one Hockey East coach ahead of the decision. You know what? Screw that. To think our tax dollars go to support our State institutions and those institutions will now give those hockey opportunities to Canadians. This does nothing but hurt America...
