Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

Am I fair in assuming that the MSHSL is still meeting today (9/18/20) to discuss winter sports, or was that moved to Monday as well due to the discussion for football and volleyball. I thought I read somewhere that Monday's meeting was exclusively for the football/volleyball discussion. My understa...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

Millea and Souhan had a podcast this week talking about the pending MSHSL decisions on fall and winter sports. One interesting tidbit that Millea provided was when he's spoken to people in other states (he didn't mention which ones) that have reconsidered restarting fall sports, when the school AD's...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

What an incredible mess they have created and are still creating. A big mess indeed. I am interested to see what their decision will be for winter sports. MSHSL seems to be regretting their decision for Fall sports. I would have to believe they are going to make more weighted decisions moving forwa...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

Basketball was deemed less risky by the governors director in charge of return to play protocols. He is a basketball Coach. #Imaginethat To be fair, he's probably been watching a lot of T'Wolves games in recent years and the way they play D is akin to social distancing, so his confusion is understa...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

The MSHSL decided during their conference call today to meet Friday to discuss starting the football season Oct. 2nd. Schools were allowed to start practice Monday, so the Oct. 2nd date makes sense. I am hearing the most likely outcome if a season happens is a season ending the Friday before Thanks...

Re: MH Sept 2020 board meeting

If you want to listen in via zoom contact Derek Ricke. (see MH webpage for contact info) My schedule probably won't allow that, but I'll ask a couple of questions here as maybe my assumptions are incorrect: covid and the season - My assumption is that there is definitely risk things could change an...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

I am hearing that the MSHSL will revisit their decision to postpone football until the spring. By their earlier decision to postpone football until the spring they allowed a 3 week fall practice to start on Monday. Games could begin in two weeks, no sections or state but the schools could reasonabl...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

From what I'm hearing, I'm starting to believe that the only way that Minnesota Hockey has a U19 season is if the MSHSL chooses not to play completely. Yeah, while I appreciate the effort and out of the box thinking, the bridge season never seemed to make much sense, it should be all or none IMHO. ...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

Yes, they are aware. They don't benefit from it at all and could potentially stand to lose from it. The kids obviously benefit, as they get to play and should have much more flexibility with their schedule. That is ultimately what it should be about. I agree, if they start out U19 and it goes well,...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

Ive heard that if MN hokey have a bridge season of sorts till MSHSL has a season, those teams will be able to wear their current jerseys and the coaches will be waived on the USA hockey certification. S Is the MSHSL aware that MN Hockey and other organizations have tentative plans to organize "brid...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

It's undoubtedly time for MSHSL to exit stage left and allow MN Hockey to run the HS aged hockey program for the year. Question: if MN Hockey “takes over”, where will the money for the ice time come from since high schools will not be on the hook? Probably where it comes from the other 8 months of ...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders

With the USHL/NAHL drafts now completed, it seems to be another decent year for MNHS goalies moving on to juniors. Too early to tell on how it'll all shake out, but by my count we have the following (apologies if I missed any): Pinney - tendered to St Cloud of NAHL Hodges - drafted by Austin in NAH...

Re: Minnesota Hockey Taking Over?

So to sum up this thread, if MHSHL shortens or cancels the season players/parents/coaches are going to find a way to take the ice whether it's through youth hockey, Jr Gold, or by other means. Hockey has been happening all summer with AAA games, Junior camps, etc, and the games will continue throug...

Does anyone have details on guidelines for allowing spectators (not family) ?
I don't think spectators will allowed (general public), I believe a small number of family members will be admitted with "passes". My understanding is the games at NH will be streamed.
