Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

Funny though, Map South beats BA 10-2, Sanford beats BA 8-3 and 4-2, then Sanford beats Map South 6-0.... Sanford can't beat BA by 6 goals but can beat Map South by 6? Map South beats BA by 8... sounds like it's not cut and dried. I guarantee you they are not a HSEL team (though couple could easily...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

They can never make everyone happy, but there are a few things that just seem to be really odd and relatively easy to fix.

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

The fact that they are (going off the posters here) adding stats from non- elite league competition is just another step in the wrong direction for the league as a whole. The talent has seemed to diminish a bit every year over the last few years. It’s more about the sponsor (Map South) wants vs the...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

I'm confused, what HSEL teams playing Tier 1 teams like Blue Army? Kids had to tryout for HSEL (well, some/most) and Blue Army is a lot of STA kids. What are the two intermingling? Seems off given the number of HSEL teams that they'd need to go outside the league. It's basically like an A team play...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

Maybe Sanford Power will apply the same amount of beat down to Blue Army in Fargo this tonight and tomorrow? Suppose they need to pass their stats because they are a bunch of unknown SCC and TRF boys. What was the result of last night's affair? Power8 Blue 3 Shots 54-37 Today Power 4 Blue 2 Shots 5...

Re: Maple Grove departures

What is Maple Grove’s issue? They consistently lose elite players to the NTDP, USHL, NAHL, and now with Brandon Reller signing with the Spokane Chiefs the WHL as well. A big time program like that should be having players wanting to come in instead of leaving for greener pastures. Is there somethin...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

BD27, Curious how you came up with this list? It looks spot on, imo. Little bit of knowing what's coming up from Bantams and what is returning, little bit of seeing certain guys/teams play, little bit of talking to coaches from some of these teams/associations, little bit of using HSEL and MNEPDL r...

Re: New Body Contact Rules

I don't have any answers. The landscape and participation in all contact sports is changing (football, hockey, boxing, etc.), they all look different than they did 10 years ago and one can only guess what it'll look like 10, 20 or 30 years from now in each sport.

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

This might have gotten off-track a little when instead of comparing the opportunity to participate in the Quebec tournament to giving up an entire year of association hockey, which is the trade-off some were arguably making, it instead started going down the path of which tournament is better Quebec...

Re: YHH Summer HS Hockey Podcast 2019

I think YHH has done decent job of showcasing the game of hockey here in Minnesota. I am not a big fan of singling out squirt aged best type players in the state (pee wee as well). That time will come at bantam and HS levels as the kids mature their game. Would prefer to see YHH follow the players ...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

A few days and the tone of the comments is mildly against transfers, with several pointing out that the out-of-state aspect isn't as common - and may not be as bothersome - as movement within MSHSL schools. Trying to summarize multiple comments, so please nobody should feel like I'm saying exactly ...

Goldy, a ton is a unit of weight. A ton of NHL scouts is approximately 19, not 2,000. LOL
Are you talking about a horse jockey or NHL scout? Probably more like 8-9 NHL scouts

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

Doc Holiday I think MNMade does an excellent job in early development.Their choice Mite league in really good for kids starting out. Plus it takes the pressure of associations who are already hurting for ice time. Most associations pile 40-50 mites on the ice for 45 minutes of babysitting. The trai...

Specifically how are some associations "covered" by yhh.com in a way disproportionately with the coverage you think yhh.com should instead be providing? Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

For every TJ Oshie there are 1,000 plus families out there where things don't work out. The bottom line is like or not, HS hockey is no longer a community sport. It's now a group of all star teams. AAA hockey has had a lot to do with this as friendships are made during the spring and these ideas go...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

It's starting to feel more and more that HS hockey will continue to lose more and more talent to early departures that I had hoped for the past several seasons. While it's still hanging on to most - and I could be wrong - but it feels like there's been an acceleration of players leaving early altho...

Re: YHH Summer HS Hockey Podcast 2019

Two follow ups from the show. 1. We were informed after the show by the Andover staff that Will Larson did move but was out of action last year due to injury. They think he will make it back in time to compete for a spot in November. 2. Our European player to BSM was denied eligibility by the MSHSL...
