LOL to the idea that any of the high-level NCHC coaches would have serious interest in the Minnesota job. Why would Sandelin or Montgomery leave their current jobs, where they have recently competed for and won national titles? Yes, Minnesota has great tradition and resources, but UMD and Denver ca...

I know it's been said over and over again, but it's really a shame...a team like Greenway, which has a group come along maybe every decade with a shot at making a run in St. Paul, only to get beaten by a team making their 9th straight appearance. 16 years since Greenway's last state appearance, I be...

When looking at the future prospects of a HS program I immediately go to the youth website and see how many teams they are fielding and what the records are like. First thing I look for is a pyramid, 6 Squirt teams, 5 Pee Wee teams, 4 Bantam teams, as opposed to an inverted pyramid where you have m...

I think Hermantown just ran into two goalies who both happened to have the games of their lives against Hermantown. Honestly, someone get the Cathedral goalie a snickers and a dew!! Some truth to that. I don't recall the shots against Luverne, but I believe it was over 50. Hermantown averaging 60 s...

This thread has really went flying off into space...bottom line is the class a tournament for hockey SHOULD BE for smaller schools who can't compete at the AA Level. Hermantown has proved the past 10 years they can compete at the AA Level. Same with STA and they moved up and have made AA State 2 of...

The argument in years past has been that they don't always have the numbers or talent to compete at the AA level. Be that as it may, neither does Roseau or other schools who opt up to AA. There will be years where they can compete in AA, and years where they may be middle of the pack. Either way, 7 ...

Am I the only one confused by the outrage over alleged recruiting of a team that may or may not make the tournament, that has never made the tournament before, from a weak section? This team is 66-90-5 from 2010-2016, so if they are recruiting players for a run to state, they've done a horrible job...

MN goal record

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but I believe Jaxon Nelson broke the state goal scoring record for the regular season. Joey Benik broke Jared Festler's record in the 08-09 season with 63 goals in 25 games, Nelson sits at 64 in 23 games. One would have to think he plays his final two years of hi...

This is a walk-on offer according to GopherPuckLive. Hopefully Curtiss can earn some ice time and scholarship $$. Great young man and family. Is it common that hockey players can walk on and tryout for a D1 hockey program. I assumed it happened all the time. Walk ons are recruited. It really isn't ...

Others that were better? Debatable. I will say about watching the boys from LVN headed to SCSU that they simply have another gear. Their ability is more than just brothers who spread the ice and know where to pass the puck. Even my boys were impressed. And they don't give praise easily. Agreed. The...

I'm amazed that the theory that every kid wants to play at Minnesota continues to survive. Gersich, Lucia, Guentzel, Hurley, Poganski, Boeser right of the top of my head have said NO in the last couple years, I'm certain there are more. That mentality worked in the 80's and 90's but I don't buy it ...

Third year in a row that Mr. Hockey isn't headed to the Gophers. I'd like to see that trend pick up again in the next few years. I wouldn't complain about that. FSN might have better production quality and be more organized, but it would depend on who ca...

The only Coon Rapids players that Blaine has had in recent memory that received significant ice time were the Schied's. Their dad is a teacher at a Blaine elementary school and they both entered Blaine as freshmen.

Good to see them make it through. They had some good teams when Addison Deboer and Hafften (spelling?) were there, I think 05 or 06, but had a pretty tough section to get through. Decent teams in 08-10 too that I think included at least one 20-win season, though not an entirely difficult schedule. A...
