By the way, I've attended every state tournament for the last 25 years and this was the worst ever for attendance in my opinion. They can cook the books to make the numbers look however they want, but there were great seats to be had everywhere. Please allow kids to pursue more avenues than the fabl...

I can't believe this forum hasn't been locked up. Other forums seem to get locked pretty quickly, but this has been allowed to drag on and on....and on...for what? It seems like the same old bickering going on for the last couple of pages. Monotonous. Rainer...give it a rest. No one besides you and ...

Leddy is the exception, not the rule. Everyone keeps holding him up as the paradigm of MN HS hockey. Leddy, Backes, Oshie and McDonagh are the only HS only players to make an impact in the NHL these days. All the other MN players in the NHL went elsewhere. Baer grew up playing the best of the best e...

Because he thinks his precious MN HS hockey is being harmed by these "ego-driven kids". If our HS hockey is so good, why don't you ever see a Patrick Kane, James Van Riemsdyk, Dustin Brown, or other high-end Americans move into Mn to play HS hockey???? Because it does not compare, even rem...

He was in my opinion and in a lot of scouts and decision makers eyes as the best 97 in the state because of his combination of speed and hands that none of his classmates have. Although, only 5'9 150...he is a frosh and you could see him getting too 6' 180ish...which would be 1st round material. He ...

To say that Malmquist needs to prove himself w/o Hurley is utterly ridiculous. All throughout youth hockey, he was the best player in the state as a second year A player. He almost single-handedly won the Pee Wee A state title with two shorthanded goals in third to win it for Edina. HE was their cat...

Funny stuff. If it's mediocre hockey, I'd love to see great hockey! I have no kids in the league, but I know a lot of people and kids playing there and I agree with a lot of the posters that the Squirt league is vastly superior hockey to association squirts. For the OG's and Chumbys of the world, yo...

Surprised to see Edina roster. Hopefully Bafata is happy with all the Seniors Giles kept. Whatever happened to Oesterreich & Mismash? Thought they'd be on Varsity for sure. Played mostly varsity last year and woulda been Juniors. Anyone know who these guys Giles is taking at Edina this year?

Maybe the freshman is/are better! You gotta do what's right for your team this year and two years from now. If a sr. and frosh are comparable in terms of that years impact, always go with the freshman! Build for the future, while being competitive in the present. Every college football & hockey ...

Think the parity talk is way overblown. The Blades and Machine are clearly waaaay more talented at the 01 & 02 level than any other team around. 02 Euro is close, but they are nowwhere near as talented as Machine or Blades. Looks like the blades have kind of cornered the market at the 03 level, ...

I think this shows how crappy association hockey really is. Once they get out in the real world of hockey, the majority of kids have a tough time hacking it, because they have been sheltered in the "state of hockey", rather than being tested year-round with elite competition and players. E...

This topic has veered a little off. Of course you don't have a three year old start doing drills, drills, drills. With all of mine, and I'm sure with 99% of the rest, it's going up to the park (or pond) and just learning how to skate, batting the puck around and doing the goalie/d thing against your...

ADM focusing on skill development? Interesting. ADM will set back hockey in the US to the stone ages of the 50's, 60's & 70's. Teaching good skating is the #1, #2 & #3 most important thing to young players learning the game. The best skaters are usually the best players. To maximize a kids a...

ADM is goofy and is a one size fits all strategy for kids, that will not benefit stronger skaters. USA Hockey is ceding ground to Canada, Europe and the russkies with their pollyanish approach to teaching the game And Mn community-based hockey is a complete joke. Even PL. Better send that 3 year old...

There sure are a lot of Edina haters. Bellows (if he plays at Edina) will be a stud there. Sure he is not quick, but there are a lot of great NHL players that have gotten by w/o quickness (Andreychuk, Hull, Nash, Heatley, etc.) He reminds me a lot of Dany Heatley. There is only one kid in the state that has #1 overall pick written all over him, and it's AP from LVS.

Those names are not going to be difference makers for AHA. Decent for depth, but Hengen really needs to get some high-end 98's, 99's & 00's to get AHA back on footing with BSM, who has taken their mantle as the go-to private in the SW metro.
