Swaney

Funny stuff.. To the guy who said "For example, as talented as they are, I don't think Jonah Bischoff, Doug Larson, Austen Long, Nick Swaney, Michael Graham, or Tyler Jutting should be there. They can all play in Elite D this year. Sorry parents." Just an update: other than some guy from the Colorad...

Bo

I liked Bo in the elite league and was bummed to see his playing time diminish at Edina. The reason he was 2nd in scoring was his 2 line mates from Lourdes. Sameulson was top 5 in asst. Funk was leading the league in points at the half way mark and then got hurt against team Wis. and ended up tied ...

Elite League up and Running - Top 10 Scorers and... ####

:) Yes we have Hockey in MN again!.. Great to see the Elite League up and running. SE looks like team to beat so far. Only team going 2-0 and putting up 12 Goals while NE, NW, & SW each put up 10 followed by GP (7) & North and Wisc. with (5).. Top 10 scorers are listed below - Actually there were 14...

thx

From what i have seen and who i have spoken with (coaches, scouts, etc), it seems clear that size doesn't matter near as much as it used to. Obviously, if you are a 6'4" defensemen, your size will get you a look. But, coaches that i have spoken with are looking for kids that skate and play with the...

***** How Much Does Size Matter and Is It Changing *****

How Much Does Size Matter & Is it Changing for College and USHL Does anyone else feel that we are seeing a trend either way with respect for it being harder or easier for smaller, lighter players (F’s) to catch the attention of Colleges or the USHL. [Not like the change in goalie height in the last ...

Thanks

NP, most productive lines without defense mentioned; before the season starts where you don't even know what the lines are; Sheehey won't get much ice time on that line. I think you get my point; change your title to poll: two or three forwards on a team (maybe not best or playing together during t...

Best Top End Talent/Line in the State? Discussion/ Poll **

Last year we had an interesting discussion on this though it was pretty much Besse, Moore & Labosky and then everyone else battling for 2nd. This year is a little more balanced. Of course these are 'potential' 1st lines as you never know how things will play out. My vote goes to Hill Murray's potent...

Name

One name I am surprised not to have seen so far is Gorowsky from Centennial. His Brother graduated and is playing in AK in the NAHL but the younger was the point leader last year, leading Centennial to state, and reportedly has a bit more potential. If I remember correctly he put up around 50pts in ...

Death of 16 Yr Old QMJHL Player at Camp

Thoughts and prayers to the family of 16 yr old Jordan Boyd of the QMJHL who collapsed and died yesterday during skating drills. Camp had just opened for Acadie-Bathurst. As far as I know he was born & raised in N. Brunswick... Absolutely Tragic.

Grand Rapids

What a change of fortune for Rapids. When is the last time that they had a quartet like the 2 Bischoff's, Avery Peterson, & Hunter Sheppard? Shows how quickly things can change.

I like Elk River based on what I've seen of some of their individual players.

Chase

It's always amusing to read about this issue and some talk about the kid being selfish etc. as well.. It's strange that for the gifted academic kids who start taking college classes early or enroll completely at a program of even higher learning to improve themselves, you never hear anything but pos...

agree

Peterson sounded like he was coming back in the piece on LaRoque's resignation, so I'm assuming he's in Grand Rapids until we definitively hear otherwise. My ten finalists, in no particular order: Peterson (Grand Rapids) Naas (Benilde) Sheehy (Burnsville) Spinner (Eden Prairie) Yon (Roseau) Brown (...

Returning scorers

SE is looking pretty good since the top 3 overall returning goal scorers are on the roster. Someone mentioned "Boeser, Novak, Sheehy, Funk" will determine if SE rolls this year? Funk, who had 2 goals in the league last year? Great kid and all but really. With Spinner, W. Brown, Borchardt, and the ot...

Burnsville

I think Burnsville will be an interesting team returning all top 5 scorers including Sheehy & (D) Teemu. May finally give Edina a run depending on who sticks around there. The first game on Nov 21st will tell a lot as B'ville plays Hill, who return all but 1 player from 1st two lines (and who had 4 ...

Guentzel

Speaking of Guentzel. My Hill Murray heart breaks thinking of what could have been had not Guentzel (3rd Rd) and Blake Heinrich (5th Rd) left for the USHL for their Sr years. State tourney runner-up? I don't think so. Imagine the that sweet 1st line from 2012 still intact (Jr) Guentzel - (Jr) Lavall...

Elite League D1 % over the years

With the Elite League coming up in the Fall I was just curious if anyone is aware of any stats relating to what % of Elite League players go on to D1. Or even what % of Elite League players that play as Juniors make it to D1. Or, finally, what % of players that make one of the two Elite League All S...

Did you ever consider that the family decided to have their son commit to a school at age 14/15 so the other programs would stop contacting them? Typically these early commitments are 50/50 to end up at the school they chose. It isn't a big deal in the world of college basketball, so I don't know w...

Anyone else curious about Joey getting drafted by USHL team. The Futures draft this year was for 97's so I didn't even think you could draft a 98'. Here's what someone said on finishyourcheck.com . Yon

Yon played very well in morning game. Skilled, fast and a great shot. Heard from a scout that several teams considered drafting him, however he apparently is planning on staying in Roseau for his Senior year. Could have caused teams to wait IMO. Thie also played well. Lavalle

As far as Lavalle, I've heard concerns about skating projecting to next levels - despite working with the Ness skating guru's.. Plus being jack of all trades and master of none. Ice vision is good but isn't as great as everyone claims.

Age

For those commenting on this "14 yr old" - from what I have heard he is actually 15 right now and was supposed to be a 9th grader this year 12-13. That from another Hill player but may want to clarify that. You get Sophs like Gersich committing and nobody says anything so what's one year difference....
