Re: 8AA 2019-2020

I would go... 1-2. Roseau or Moorhead 3. STMA 4-6. Buffalo, St Cloud, Brainerd in any order 7. Bemidji 8. Rogers I think Roseau is closer to Moorhead than some people think. Roseau has been the better team the last two years at the bantam level and that is with their best 9th grade forwards playing...

If that’s true then he needs to step down as Team North HS Elite League Coach
I agree with you in that high school coaches shouldn’t be coaching in the Elite League. Team selection is a conflict of interest. But why is that different if he’s coaching at Rapids vs Greenway?

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

I don’t know if his coaching style fits Rapids but if he ends up at Rapids they will win 7AA this year. He better grab it if offered because who knows when that opportunity will come around again. This is pretty bold IMHO. I’m as big of a 218 guy as you will find but I think some of us are overlook...

Re: Bantams vs. High School

Agree completely that there is no one size fits all answer. But I do think, like with leaving high school early, that there are far more people that think they should than there are people that actually should.

Re: Bantams vs. High School

If you will be hands down the best player on the bantam team and not really challenged in practice is that really going to help the player get better? Yes. Playing makes you better. Looking further than that is overthinking it. Unless we are talking about a great player in a real small Association....

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

I was thinking that GP was probably the best EL team, but then SSM make them look no better than any other EL team on Sunday. Also heard they are practicing which could give them a ‘team play’ edge. Let’s see if they can keep it going.... Right on Shattuck. Although I heard Sanford outshot Shattuck...

Pretty sure if I was going to bet everything I own that one Elite League team is NOT practicing......I’d bet on the Great Plains team. Its a pretty good drive from Roseau to St Cloud on a school night.

I’d suggest we have two different teams from Section 8 and they each play them. Pretty sure a second team from Great Plains could have kept it to 10.

Aye, aye, aye. The NTDP score today certainly didn't do anything to disprove my point from last week.

Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019

MWS.....I'm standing by my primary point that things are wide open this year. That take is based on a lot more than a few games in the Elite League, which I actually don't think provides much predictive value at all. Sorry if my comments made it sound like that's what I'm basing it on because that's...

Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019

Interesting to see the success that the Great Plains team is having in the Elite League. Tells me that things are likely wide open this year in AA and that you may not want to sleep on Section 8. I have no idea on Section 8 teams, but I think looking at the Elite League Power team's success may be ...

Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019

So BP, does that mean you have Brainerd finishing both first and third in Section 8 AA then? You might want to do some homework on that one and possibly Section 8AA in general. It's possible that you've missed all of the top 3 teams in the section on your list. Interesting to see the succe...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

Brainerd lost a ton from last year and doesn’t have a lot to replace it with. They likely won’t be a major factor this year with or without Menghini. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a factor in his decision.

Re: New Body Contact Rules

I think what they are trying to accomplish is to restore the notion that the purpose of checking in hockey is simply to separate the player from the puck in order to gain possession of it yourself. It isn't necessary to have a high impact hit to accomplish that. Coincidentally, the game is better (I...

Re: New Body Contact Rules

I’m probably in the minority but I think the changes are positive and just hope they stick with them and get the change in play they are looking for. There is nothing exciting about grinding physical play. A skil game is way more exciting and it’s an entertainment business. I also disagree with the ...

Agree on the McDonough thing. He doesn’t belong anywhere near an all time all tourney team conversation. Great player and great post high school career. Not taking anything away from that at all. But I don’t see the all tourney thing at all.

Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019

Stillwater and Moorhead will both likely be top 10 teams with top 5 potential this year. I tend to think WM has a decent starting point but has Blaine and Andover a bit underrated and Rosemount and Lakeville South somewhat overrated.
